The New Sounds are Awesome

More seriously, words cannot describe how useful they are to someody like me who enjoys building up composite sounds. In LBP1, you tried to get a rough approximation of what [sound] should be like, but now I can create pretty accurate effects. The also seem to take less thermo, but that may just be me.
So yeah, so far I've done a Wolf roaring and crunch on bones with 10 speakers, a large Steam engine with randomised background effects with seven and I have a WIP Nuclear Detonation with about 80 and growing. All three are still awaiting final tweaks.
So yeah, great job MM.
Also, if there's interest, I might do a tutorial on creating sounds, so I'd like to hear your views on that, It would be mostly be focussed on using sounds for things other than what they are called, but there'd be other elements too. [For example, I used two whip sound effects when my Wolf was crunch to add a higher tone.]

Yeah, they're great. Sound is very important. I spent ages in LBP1 putting different sounds together but was never really happy with the results. In LBP2 it's easier but I wish we had more engine sounds. I'm finding it hard to get the sound of a diesel engine right.2011-01-31 01:03:00

I agree, with the new sounds I was easily able to do a gun fight battle and then an explosion, a plane falling and hitting the ground, scraping across a valley, and teetering over the edge of a canyon before falling back and rocking.2011-01-31 01:17:00

@Ayneh I'll have a go at a Diesel engine if you like. I'm not promising anything, and I'd probably want credit if you use it in a level, but I', drawing close to finishing the Nuke, so I'd have the time to do it.
@Alexxerth That sound pretty cool. Do you have a level with the published sequence in? I'd like to check it out.
[Random Fact: the Nuclear detonation is one hundred and eighty six Speakers and about 80% done, excluding final tweaks. Wasn't happy with the ending, so i just got rid of it.]

Actually it was a mini thing I did when I saw the new selection of sounds so I do not have it saved anywhere. Gunshots are very easily replicated using firecrackers though, might get around to this one day, I actually took it a bit farther this morning by making a full scale battle, starting with tanks and helicopters rolling and flying by, leading to a helicopter getting blown up, pretty good sounds considering the tank engine and helicopter flight is done for me.2011-02-01 01:17:00
