Conroled Sackbots: Emoting and recorded actions??

Archive: 3 posts

Hello everyone!
I've been working on a sackbot that is controlled and tracked by the camera and it's all been working wonderfully, but I encountered some problems as I kept on tweaking the sackbot to be more like the character I need for my levels.

First, I've tried making the Sackbot emote on comand like a sackboy... though I haven't made any progress. I played a level recently where they managed to pull it off though...

Second, on some of the actions, for example when he shoots a fireball. I had recorded in a different behavior switch the sackbot doing a smacking action which looks awesome when throwing the fireball BUT:
-if I put the recorded action on "perform once" it does it marvelously the first time I make it shoot, but all the next times it doesn't act.
-if I put it as loop relative, it just does it again and again even if I only shot once and stopped pressing the shooting button.
-Loop Absolute gives the same problem plus, as you may know, makes the sackbot return to the place where I recorded the slap.

I would very much appreciate some help being able to pull these off ^^u

Seems it's pretty tricky to get just right. I've seen a few that work pretty well, but I haven't seen any that act perfectly like a sackboy would: like if you'e sad and you press up, it should go to neutral instead of going straight to happy.

You're probably leaving your sackbot behavior chip on when you activate it. What you need to do is trigger the behavior chip with the action, then after the action is done, trigger another behavior chip (like the default one). Then when you go to trigger it again, it will work again. You can accomplish this with a sequencer or a timer: plug your attack button into the action behavior chip and a timer. Hook the timer's output into it's reset and into the the default behavior chip. Now just set the time to however long it takes to perform the action and you should be able to repeat it indefinitely.

Thanks a gazillion!!!!!! :3 any idea how those not-so-perfect emoting sytems on sackbots work though? ^^u
