I know this may sound like a stupid question but I really don't know how to Back up my LBP 2 Profile, I accidentally came across a captured Pod item and I want to back up my profile before I try deleting it just to be on the safe side, but I really don't know how to back up My LBP 2 Profile.

It's pretty easy Press Start, go to 'Settings', and there, look for something like 'Profile'. There should be a option called 'Save LBP2 Profile' or something like that. Save your Profile like that. (Or as we like to say, backup your profile ) Then, you can put the file on a USB stick for example and keep it safe Hope that helps!

can u do this outside the game. my ps3 stopped detecting my games half an hour ago and im panicking i gotta send it of, and might lose 100's of hours of levels i working on!

Nope, as far as I know, you can't. Maybe try to save any data stored from LBP2 (but obviously not the data installed when you start up the game the first time, should be 1GB+ in size) and hope that you can use it on another PS3.
