I have a feeling that getting access to internet again is not very high on their priority list right now.2011-01-30 13:05:00

That's not because the government just decided to turn it off though, you don't get the point.... I hope good things for those people & it also isn't just about internet.

I know it's not just about the internet. And I mean no disrespect by saying political BS. It's just makes me feel sad that they cant access anything. Also As far as USA area's without internet, as IAmChavez said, thats because no company has set up service in those areas. In Egypt what ever is going on the goverment over there shut it down. and they have no way of getting it all 2011-01-30 21:03:00

I'm sure with all the rioting and shooting of civilians, that as Syroc said getting access to internet and a game again is not very high on their priority list. As to why they did it, was it a way to stop civilians plotting riots over facebook etc?2011-01-30 21:47:00

yea now that im awake and watching news more. im reading more about it to. Obama took away our internet for some BS political reason i could easily say i'd have over things on my mind to. It makes me think of how much i take for granted, and how much realworld current events can affect even a small important part of my life. Guess just kind of a wake up call, Making me want to pay more to what going on with my own country's goverment.2011-01-30 22:02:00

That really sucks for the LBP community in Egypt, but personally, I'd rather them all be safe than things being potentially worse with internet (like someone mentioned, that could make the attacks over there more coordinated)2011-01-30 22:07:00

I think they said the ruler has been in power since 1980s. So i can see why they might have a few things to deal with. My heart goes out and i hope the come through their troubles safe. I don't know enough about the current ruler, but full flat out shutting down of net sucks. I'd be doing something more than rioting thou.2011-01-30 22:14:00

Egypt has been under this regime for 30 years, which has run their economy into the ground. The people finally decided to rise up and demand that the dictator be removed from office and for a non-corrupt government. While in the middle of their revolution for freedom, I don't think LBP is anywhere near the top of their list of thinks important to them right now.

The dictator had the internet turned off to try to stop information getting out and to stop people from going on Facebook/twitter and putting out mass-messages to people telling them to join in and rebel against the regime.

At least they didn't H4H the govermet . With what i saw on the net today looks like even more was affected. I didnt realize just how much life was connected to internt there. USA never survie the fall out if we lost our internet. Im not sure if any of us even remeber what pony express was. I thought the 403 message was bad. But to lose news feed e-mail. I wonder if people here in USA even know what pencil and paper are. Also i apologise that this topic is a little more than LBP related, but i was really curious as to the thoughs of other LBP community members felt about it. Also at least on LBPc here most LBP memebers are good at respectful and polite thought and disccusion. And I guess i was caught up in playing the game and enjoying my vacation time off, that i kinda forgot how much the virtual world is affected by real world events.2011-01-30 23:08:00

agreed there jump_button. Im not to happy with Obama but atleast in just under 2years I get vote for someone else. Figure what the hey Obama cant possible screw up the U.S. in that time frame. But to be under the same ruler for 30years. That just has to blow. every 4 years we have a chance to get someone who can fix the previous leader's mistakes, but 30yrs without anyway to counteract/fix the leader's goof ups or mistakes, no wondering they are rioting. So has this guy been this horrible the whole time. Or just recently is it that he has become a bd ruler. 30years is a long time to have waited before rioting. Shutting down the net might not have been a bad thing. Now it forces them to be a bit more creative and smarter about organizing thier revolt at least for those who don't go with the mob mentality.2011-01-30 23:42:00

Obama already did enough damage to the U.S in his first 2 years.
And hey, it took bush all of..9 months? to start doing hard damage to us. :l

Just read Obama's two books and you might just see what he is about. But another book is the Roots of Obama's Rage by Dinesh D'Souza. He lays out another look at Mr Nice Guy.

No just recently he sold the financial sector of the country to outside interests to line the elites pockets. So now Egyptians can't afford to eat or a house to sleep in.

ok.
but on a personal level he is a great guy to be with. anyway, he may not have realised how selling the finacial sector would affect egypt.

There's an Egyptian uprising thread here (https://lbpcentral.lbp-hub.com/index.php?t=46242-An-Egyptian-Revolution&highlight=egypt) if you guys want to continue the conversation. TSFRJ's right too, try not to let it become a bash political figures topic unless it's related to the Egyptian situation. k.

I'm going to lock this one up since you guys have covered them not having internet access in this one pretty clearly. Take it to the other thread if you want to keep chatting about it and keep it on topic and civilized please. (So far so good so kudos guys!)

Locked.
