Sackbots. Frustrations?

I know Mm probably made it so they cannot use the grappling hook/jetpack/water to avoid them having to not only worry about the horizontal axis but the vertical one as well, but if they are being player controlled they should be able to use them!
I had this great idea for a level, and now I find out that I cannot make it probably. Or at least it won't be as good, becaus eI cannot use the grappling hook with my freaking PLAYER CONTROLED SACKBOT.

PLAYER CONTOLLED SACK BOTS SHOULD BE ABLE TO DO THESE THINGS! Sorry just frustrated because I had this great idea and... Sad face.

I guess this really should be in the suggestions category...

Allowing them to do this controlled would mean allowing it to do it without the players.
This would be rather problematic and too buggy tbh, I'm pretty sure would've added it if they could if it wasnt soo buggy/ problematic.

Remember, if they could, they would, so if they haven't, they can't.

on top of what silverleon said, you can also make a replica of the grapple hook, and jetpack fairly simply with a bit of logic.

sadly well just have to wait and hope for sackbot/water interaction ...

I disagree with you entirely Silverleon.
I am sure Media Molecule could easily make a tweak on the sackbot that only allows sackbots to use powerups when they are player controlled, which would fix the supposed 'problems' with the power ups we currently can't have them used. Do you remember how much LBP1's create mode was updated with all the patches?
I'm sure that Media Molecule just A: didn't realise we'd be upset to this or B; didn't have the TIME to get this added in or something. I hope/pray/but really just hope, that in one of the updated this will be included in. And I have NO reason to believe that it won't be.

I feel your frustration. I too had a great idea where sackbots used grappling hooks, but alas, tis not possible. The problem is that will all the animation styles, it would be very very difficult to add all of those animations. However, I do not see it as an impossibility. It is one of the more brought up complaints, and, while it would take some time, allowing ONLY player controlled sackbots to use the grappling hook seems like it is something that they could do. So I have hope, but it will probably be a while if ever.

I could agree with you IF this issue wasn't brought up sooooo many times during BETA as well, people have reccomended this idea and complained about the issue ever since early in the BETA so I'm quite certain they knew and had time.

Also, you seem to know a alot about game making, so you could go and help them make this feature since you're so sure its so 'easy' to implement, you should be able to make this in no time, right?


For what I've heard and gathered, the do have a plan to at least allow water/ jetpack movement in the future (not 100% sure), but you gotta realize that they haven't even released the 1st patch, they got more priorities atm, like fixing all the bugs, and that it takes time to do this, its just been about 2 weeks since game release, they can't solve this sort of things in a day, they're not just lazying around doing nothing, they may be work on it as we speak, that doesn't mean they'll have it ready tomorrow or in a week, its just not THAT easy, you know?
