FoosBall Table

Archive: 5 posts

Hi Guys,

I've just published a foosball table, but it still needs some work.

I've built it in the only way I know how 1 character can control 4 paddles at once, and to play it you have to have 2 players or else the table doesn't start. I have a few issues I'm happy to focus any feedback on at the moment.

1. I can't get the scoring so that each goal belongs to each player.
2. The controls I think take a little time to get used to, so any feedback on that would be great.
3. The camera shifts moving to the table get a little awkward, so if you don't time the 2 people jumping onto the controlinators right, someone pops.
4. Setting a delay at the beginning so that both characters can sit on the controlinators before they start moving.
5. Is there any way of making the paddles rigid and immovable without being attached to something??

Controls:
each paddle is controlled by triangle, cross, round, square. you press one of the buttons to control that paddle individually. R1 lowers the paddle to block the puck, and left stick moves up and down.
e.g. press X, while pressing X, press R1 to lower the paddle to block, while pressing X, move left stick up or down.

As soon as I figure out how to take screenshots and get them on to my computer... if I have to I'll take a photo of my TV, and you can see how I've built the logic.

I'll eventually expand this to be a 4 player game (which will be selectable at the beginning) so I have to keep that in mind when changing things.

Any help is greatly appreciated, and I'll try to help you as much as I can in return.

Hi Guys,
5. Is there any way of making the paddles rigid and immovable without being attached to something??

If you mean what I think you mean yes. An anti gravity switch with dampning set to 100% should do it. Which can be turned on and off how ever you like mid level.

Thanks Luke, I had thought of that, but couldn't work out how to make the paddles immovable when they are hit by the puck. The biggest issue is when you push your paddle against the side of the table, they start to move sideways.

The only way I got around it was making the paddles out of rock, and the puck out of cardboard. The other only solution was to put guide rails on either side of the paddles, which I've tried to make as small as possible, and indestructible, and immovable. You can still see what happens with the guide rails now, they move a little but not enough to affect the game-play.
