BakScratch not working!

Archive: 15 posts

ok so im trying to make a couple of good levels but for them to really look how i want i decided to use the layer glitch, only prob? It doesn't work anymore, when i go to use it, it doesn't connect like a normal material. I have to place it peice by peice which means i cant make continous floors and walls. I tried getting a new tool but same result. Anyone know an answer?2011-01-29 19:32:00

I have always used the extra layer tool by comphermc, which also is not working in LBP2. But, I've made a new version which so far is working. I will publish a level with the new extra layer tool, probably later on today. I just want to use it a little more to make sure it works reliably.2011-01-29 19:38:00

Yea that would be cool, those tools from comphermc were really good at making the extra layers an "easy" thing. I tried messing with them and was disapointed when it kept selecting the whole thing. Be sure to add a little tutorial with your level for anyone that plays it and never used extra layers.2011-01-29 19:48:00

All you have to do is go into LBP1, put comph's tool in a level by itself, back it up and inport to LBP2. Once you have it in LBP2, just capture and you are set.2011-01-29 19:59:00

I would really hope that MM will fix it soon. The new glitch is making levels look outstanding!2011-01-29 21:11:00

thanks, i shall try that

now i just have to figure out how to get adequate light on glitch layers when the global settings are at night time.
previously visible (LBP1) objects now disappear into the darkness :-/

Good luck on that! ..lighting, I am afraid, does not cooperate in the glitch layers. Let us know if you run across anything that works. Anything I tried in the beta, didn't seem to make a difference as far as lighting up areas. You could see lights, like glitch stars for example, but probably not all what you are hoping.

How strange, my layer tools are working just fine. o_O
I wonder why I'm not having the same issues.

For anyone who is having trouble with extra layers, you can get my version of the tool in "LBP2 in 3D." I've tested it out, but let me know if it doesn't work for anyone else. Maybe it's not even needed, but just in case it helps...
Also, for night time lighting issues in the background layers, try increasing the fog and turning its color to black.

Oh good, I was wondering about this too, I was trying to make some buildings for a top down level but when I whipped out comphs tool, nope, didn't work, it also seems that the same thing happens with collected fonts, they take so much longer to use now.2011-01-30 06:05:00

From what I understand, you have to choose the glitched material from community objects, press circle, then go to the material you want in the goodies bag. If you don't it should just place it in pieces. Hope I helped.2011-01-30 07:09:00

Try placing the font in a level, then capture as your own object. I think this may allow you to select individual letters.
It seems that LBP2 deals with community objects a little differently, that's why comphermc's tool wasn't working, also why fonts are difficult: When a group of objects is captured and shared as a prize, the recipient of the prize is unable to select just one out of that group, it's all or nothing. What's really strange to me, is that Lady_Wulf didn't have the same problem with extra layers. Seems like it should affect everyone.

That's the train of thought I was having. I'm hardly complaining, mind you. I just bring out one of the objects (50 or 100 layer for background or foreground) and then press O to go back and pick my material. Waterfall material 100 layers thick doesn't look very good. =P2011-01-31 03:39:00

Here I was using the corner editor to break an editable piece off of each bg object and recreating the tools. This'll be much faster.

I wonder why I'm not having the same issues.

single objects seem to work okay but groups of objects can't be easily seperated into individual parts.

Here's what you do with those fonts. (I can't believe no one has done this)

Usually when I get a font or something else I go over the letters with a different material (Though it doesn't matter) and delete the letters. Then I make a solid block behind it. Then I take the first block and erase stuff from the 2nd block.

It makes it to where the font is now yours. ( So as long as you give the original maker credit)
