Can't get object to move left or down.

Archive: 5 posts

I am about to make a Snake level, but I have a problem. I have a controllinator on a cube, and the controllinator contains a Anti-Gravity Tweaker, a Advanced mover, and a Selector. I can get the cube to move in the right snake-like way, but when I press the down arrow the cube moves upwards, and when I press the left it goes right. Does anyone know a solution to this???2011-01-29 18:56:00

Wire up and down/left and right to their own direction combiner (2 total), then wire the direction combiners to the advanced mover. Using the control sticks would allow you to skip this step, but if you want to use the directional pad (or any other output with only positive values) then this is the way to do it.2011-01-29 19:10:00

I don't want to start a thread with the same title even though my issue is a bit different. Sorry to thread jack, but I can't get objects to move left or down(in a sense) either.

I made an invisible border for some crosshairs with the purpose of keeping them on screen. I did it with tag sensors on the crosshairs and tags on the border. All of that works great, but when I get to the top or right it moves the crosshairs up or right. When I get to the left or bottom it moves it right or up like I wanted it to. I've tried it with movers and advanced movers. Currently I have advanced movers hooked up to my tag sensors which is how the left and bottom work, but I can't figure out how to get the right and top to do the same. Any ideas?

I created a similar system not long ago. I remember having some difficulty with it as well, but after numerous tweaks I managed to get it to work. I'm not sure how you've incorporated yours, but mine was a collision sensor on my aiming reticle requiring a tag (that was placed on the border hologram). When this sensor was active, it activated a follower set to follow my vehicle from which the reticle originated. In hindsight, perhaps physically attaching the reticle with pistons to the border would've been easier... That way they'd easily stay within the confines of your defined border, since the pistons wouldn't extend or retract any further.

I ended up using your suggestion of the follower and set it to go back to a tag on the front of my helicopter if it broke the border. I may do the pistons if I feel like the other method isnt working out. I just didn't want to scrap all of my work I did so I changed the mover to a follower. We will see if my stubbornness gets the best of me. I just don't understand why they didn't make it easier to control a movers direction. Oh well. Thanks for the input!2011-01-30 03:52:00
