Little Big TRON (Update 2.0)

Archive: 18 posts

I've put quite a bit of work into the this level and would just like some feedback. I will keep updating it till I believe it's near perfect.
It's a remake of the classic Tron game. Just hop into the controlinator and go, couldn't be easier. Suggestions and feedback greatly appreciated. Thanks

UPDATE 1.0 (1/30/11)
- Increased the grid size
- Eliminated the bug where sometimes the players would go through the trails unharmed.
- No need to leave controlinator to restart. Just press X (will be implementing a sync future next)
- Now supports 1-4 players
- Changed to movement to D-pad for more responsive feel.

UPDATE 2.0 (1/30/11)
- New spawn system.
- Everything is automatically synchronized.
- Automatically start game.
- Countdown to inform you of When the next wave is starting.
- Scoring system has arrived.

Keep checking back for future updates.
Feedback and suggestions still greatly appreciated.

At first glance looks a lot like snake, and i guess it is, but i with a few improvements it could be as great as the original Tron game!

I think that you need to add another two controlinators so that you can have up to 4 players at once. This would make it much more challenging and make each game last a little longer. Maybe you could increase the size of the game area to help this too.

Another thing is restarting each game. I think it would be better if you could put in a restart option at the end of each round, so that you don't have to get out of the controlinators to have another go.

Apart from that, maybe touch up the responsiveness of the controls and it will be fantastic fun!

I know im asking for a lot, but i think its what the level needs to be better, and im sure it would become very popular if you pulled them off!

Give it a go and ill be sure to check back in the future!

Hopefully tonight I'll be able to update it with just that. I'll make the grid bigger, add two more controlinators, as well as change the movement from the analog sticks to the D pad to make it seem more responsive. Thanks for the input. I appreciate it.2011-01-29 20:42:00

Hey I just got done checking out your level, the mechanics work great, everything's solid.

All I can really do is echo the above thoughts, with a fullscreen playing area and an automatic restart, this would be even better. Perhaps implement a scoring system, so the first to a certain number of victories wins. I personally think Tron works best as a 2-Player game, if you were going to make a 4-Player area, I would make it as its own separate area, and let players choose from the start if they want the 2 or 4 player version.

I look forward to seeing where your level goes from here, keep up the good work!

Since you're doing F4F, could you check out my level Zen Mastermind and leave feedback in its thread at https://lbpcentral.lbp-hub.com/index.php?t=45106-Zen-Mastermind-by-Elijah_Caine? I'd appreciate it!

Just got done playing your level!

I really enjoyed the vibe and theme the environment had going for it. The music was a nice touch as well. My advice would be to have a restart function for each round if possible? The current system has it where the players need to hop out of the controlinators in order to restart the round.

I played a total of about 10 'Rounds'. On 2-3 separate occasions, the Red bike was able to pass through the Blue wall a few times unharmed. A small glitch of sorts but the level is in the beginning stages. Keep at it! I look forward to the updated versions!

Could you please give my own level a go and provide some feedback?
Link is in the Signature, greatly appreciated!

Thanks for the input. When I update it, I'll be sure to address those issues.

I've noticed the glitch where the red car is able to pass through the blue car's trail unharmed. I'm currently working on a system for that. I've already started to implement a 2-4 player system. While I do agree with you Elijah, I believe adding an extra two players with the ability to choose teams, so you can play on the same grid with 2-4 players seems fair. I am also increasing the Grid size, and allowing for solo play for those who don't have another person to play with. Automatic starting system and scoring system is also underway.

Thanks for the feedback. I'll be sure to add your levels to my queue, and leave feedback soon.

Queued and bookmarked. Will play soon.

Edit: I didn't know this was a two player level. I would put that in the description or title. I will play it with a friend in a sec.

Edit2: Very nice. I think you've hit the concept of tron spot-on. However, I would love to see this in more of a "level" form. What I mean is, you should make it where you get points, a certain amount of lives, etc. Make this a true versus level. I would love to see what you do with this in the future.

Overall, very good. I think you've got most of the logic down and it's very fun once you get going. If you have the time, check out the level in my sig. Thanks.

Great level! Just played it with my brother and had a lot of fun.

Pros
-Really fun to play with a friend
-Light bike system works perfectly, no glitches as far as I can tell

Cons
-Kind of bare bones- there's nothing that says who won or tells you when the game is over, and the whole thing is just in the middle of an empty level
-It's not really evident that it only works with 2 people. I would put this in the description.

I gave it a happy face. Can't wait to try it out on four player! If you get a chance, please F4F the level in my sig. Thanks!

EDIT: have now played! I only had one player so enjoying it like that can only give me a glimse of how fun it could be... For the benefit of single player mabie you could have a score system for the longer you survive? I found the line responsive but it doesn't have the bkie leaveing the trail that I hoped for! rated it : )

Please review my level "Cows are bored of being abducted!" Link in sig!

Its nice to see the changes you've made from my advice!

Its much better now, although it would still be nice to see a score system so theres a way of gaging your victory!

I'll definitely check this out. Sounds cool. I'm working on a TRON level myself. It's more of an open world sort of thing though.2011-01-30 21:32:00
