Select "hidden" bolts, etc?

Archive: 10 posts

Hi.

Is there anyway to select motor bolts, etc. that are behind other pieces of material?

I'm trying to build a robot walking with two legs and therefor its torso and the leg closest to the screen is in the way of the back leg and its bolts. Is there anyway to "reach" them?

I tried rotating the camera, but it doesn't work.
I tried setting the material to glass on everything, hoping to see through and being able to click on them, but no luck.

And I can't very well dismantle the entire thing everytime I want to tweak a number.

Anyone?

If you want to tweak it, glass does work, just hover over it and spam the square button while jiggling he mouse over it.

If you want to actually move he bolt, that is a headache...

I've found that with large creatures it is best to work with the front two layers and then for legs or arms just duplicate the other one and change layers. This is not appropriate always, sometimes you may want to start with the back two. If you plan to mainly use motor/rotating bolts start with the back two layers. Otherwise, start with the front two.2008-11-12 21:49:00

I had to start with the layer furthest back. My creation utilizes all five layers and therefor I had to start at the back and "add" on it, to be able to use the bolts, etc.

Geeze, I feel I'm in a bad position now.

I think we need the option to disable and/or hide layers.

That way, you could just hide the first layer and be able to make your robot.

Agreed! Would be a life saver.

Well, a 360 degree view would probably be unnecessary, as I highly doubt there are any textures on the backsides of the objects, as you can never actually see back there while playing the game.

A 180 degree view is SORELY needed though, as sometimes you just can't click on stuff in the back.

The feature we need most, though, is just a way to make the layers invisible and intangible when we don't need them onscreen.

ok well you might have to dismantle but it is actually very easy

1. use the cursor to select the entire arm and nothing more, detatch the arm bring the bolt to view, and change the numbers then simply slide it back and wazam you have yourself a working arm again after you bolt it in.

hope this helps

Cheers!

It's not that easy I'm afraid. The way it's built requires several pieces and bolts to be detached, making it a quite tedious chore to do everytime I want to change a number.

Thanks though.
