The Light in the Darkness

Archive: 9 posts

Hey everyone please try my new level The Light in the Darkness. I'm still not 100% happy with it so feedback would be great. I'll play the first 5 people who posts levels, and probably many more then that too just post your level and I'll add it to my queue.

Pretty short, but was still cool, the level looked very nice good use of neon and holograms
Only suggestion is to make it longer

Very nice! Pretty original too. The only major disappointment I had was when it ended. Just keep going with what you have and build on it. Some light based puzzles, more platforming, let your imagination go wild (yes I said that in a Stephen Fry voice).

If theres anything else you want feedback on let me know. My level is in my signature

Ya I even thought it was way to short I'll try ading to it soon. I kinda wanted to make sure people liked it first before I spent tons of time on it cuz I didn't think people would like it. Thanks for feedback just queued up your level2011-01-29 16:04:00

I played through it twice; here is what I thought:

Gameplay: 3/5
-It's a very nice concept and it definitely brings a new type of gameplay to the floor. The one thing that distracted me was the lack of logic. I noticed that if you land on a platform, that it will light up. If you jump on it again, it turns off. I would suggest making a permanent switch, maybe using a counter set to 1. Also, I noticed that you give points everytime they land or run past a platform. This also needs a permanent switch because you can jump up and down forever and rack up as many points as you want.

Scenery: 4/5
-You really can't over-complicate the looks of a level like this. I think you used a nice color range for the glowing platforms and arrows.

Sounds: 3.5/5
- I went back through a second time to see if you used sound effects and you did. Nice job. As for music, hey... who can resist Passion Pit? Would love to see you create some of your own music though. Or at least use custom music someone else made. It's nice to hear something new every once in a while.

Overall, I enjoyed it. I gave it . Keep it up.

Thanks I appreciate the honest review. Ya that was what I hated about my level. I'm fairly new to creating levels. I made a few in LBP1, but the logic, while simple kinda confuses me. If you don't mind, how would I go about making them permanently stay on and only giving people points one time? Ya thats pretty much how i decided on Passion Pit just cuz I thought it sounded good, I'll look into finding some user created music that would be cool. One more quick question, do you think I should take out the score bubbles altogether I feel they distract from the music and just enjoying the level?

Edit: so setting the counter to 1 could fix my problem? I'll try that a little later.
