Just published my first LittleBigPlanet 2 level after many hours. It's kind of short and can get a little tricky in areas but I think I did okay for my first time. I'll be happy to play and vote on your levels too. Thanks and enjoy http://i5.lbp.me/img/ft/cd5b16fd642196853673e6f550b52152f03a2bb2.jpg http://i7.lbp.me/img/ft/267e7799b96c1ee1ef01d85acbd42238d25bc777.jpg http://i6.lbp.me/img/ft/aa69517c311230851bf276f291ff9092b6331147.jpg http://lbp.me/v/w58j44 | 2011-01-29 14:45:00 Author: NoddingPenguin Posts: 71 |

Thanks for your feedback on my level! I really liked your use of the voice recording it gave the cut scenes more weight and caught my attention, whereas usually i might have skip read the text and moved on. I found that the cave section with the three buttons that open the doors was very laggy, and i managed to get the rock stuck on the ledge above the buttons, which forced me to restart. I also found that your cut scenes were a tad too long when they were holding on a certain angle. As well the extending rock over the spike didn't come back out once it went in, and i found it quite hard to get past that stage. Other than these small issues, i loved how you used light and smoke together to enhance the platforming, and the presentation of the level was very good. Simple but extremely effective. Good job! | 2011-01-29 16:21:00 Author: Steve Posts: 134 |
Thanks for your feedback. I totally agree about the cameras, they definitely linger too long. It's a shame about the rock getting stuck - you're the second person to mention that. I guess my main mistake was not properly testing the level before I published it. Also what did you mean by this - " As well the extending rock over the spike didn't come back out once it went in, and i found it quite hard to get past that stage."? Not quite sure which part you're talking about here. Thanks again | 2011-01-29 16:26:00 Author: NoddingPenguin Posts: 71 |
I guess you figured out but the level icon is the link . Thank you for the feedback on my rockband level. Your point about penalising cheaters is what im working on at the mo. I am currently testing guitar as well In the future i plan to add things like multipliers and multiplayer Thanks | 2011-01-29 16:40:00 Author: Unknown User |

Hey I left a review on your level man. I was the first person to play it. | 2011-01-29 17:29:00 Author: Kitkasumass Posts: 494 |
Also what did you mean by this - " As well the extending rock over the spike didn't come back out once it went in, and i found it quite hard to get past that stage."? Not quite sure which part you're talking about here. When you get to the bit just past the buttons, there is the spikes and a a rotating rock with spikes on one side, and a strip of rock slides out, it went back in after a while though which meant i had to restart. | 2011-01-29 18:05:00 Author: Steve Posts: 134 |
Hey I left a review on your level man. I was the first person to play it. Thanks a lot. Is there a level of yours you want me to try and leave feedback? Also which review did you leave, I can't see it on there. Was it the one about the rock emitter problem? After I got that I deleted the level, fixed it and then republished. When you get to the bit just past the buttons, there is the spikes and a a rotating rock with spikes on one side, and a strip of rock slides out, it went back in after a while though which meant i had to restart. Oh right that's strange, are you sure the switch didn't just slide back? I'll have to test the level again and see whats going on there | 2011-01-29 18:20:00 Author: NoddingPenguin Posts: 71 |
Overall, I thought this level was quite good. I played through it twice. Here's what I thought: Gameplay: 4/5 -You had some very nice gameplay elements throughout the level. There were areas where it was a little hard to squeeze through. I would give a little bit more room for the sackboy to move around when he's underground. Scenery: 3/5 -The scenery was pretty good, but I feel it is lacking detail. (Which isn't always bad, but in a rock climbing/ cave level, I would expect that.) Try using decorations or using material on top of material to give it a different look. Voice Acting: 5/5 -The voice acting was quite amazing! I didn't hear in hesitation in the voice, it sounded excellent! You could probably make a good LBP2 movie with that kind of voice acting! Sound 3/5 -You used the game music which was fine. Where I felt it was a little bit lacking was "sound effects". I heard a few here and there, but I feel you could have used them in many more places where they were not. Overall, I thought this was a great level! Nice gameplay, nice voice acting, and a great concept in general. from me. If you could, check out the mini-game in my sig. Thanks. | 2011-01-29 18:25:00 Author: ShamgarBlade Posts: 1010 |
Im not sure i tried several things but it wouldn't seem to come back out, play with it a bit and i shall give it another go to see if i get the same issue! | 2011-01-29 18:27:00 Author: Steve Posts: 134 |
Thanks for the in depth feedback there ShamgarBlade, I'll check out your level now | 2011-01-29 18:36:00 Author: NoddingPenguin Posts: 71 |
Thanks everyone for your feedback, I've gone back and edited my level slightly. No huge changes, but I tried. I'd rather take what I've learned and start a fresh level, but I didn't want to just ignore the faults on this one. Update Notes: - Reshaped the sand over the buttons to stop the rock getting stuck - Cut down the time cameras hold making things move along a bit better - At the spiked platform stage I added some pause type to the rotating platform and added an extra platform to make this area a little easier - Reshaped some of the tighter-space areas so Sackboy doesn't get stuck, especially at the part where you have to pull the rock down - Added some stickers and decorations - Added some sound effects And just to mention, if I didn't edit anything that you mentioned, there's a reason for it. Either I don't know how or I simply don't think it needs changing. Most of the time though, it's simply because I don't know how. | 2011-01-29 19:58:00 Author: NoddingPenguin Posts: 71 |
Thought it was a very fun and yet kind of short level. Thought the layout was very good and the hidden gold pieces was a nice touch. although i didn't really care for the part where the spikes are moving up and down right be fore the fake scoreboard | 2011-01-29 23:58:00 Author: DudeWTH Posts: 29 |
What was it about the spikes you didn't like? Too awkward to get past or just not very good in terms of level design? | 2011-01-30 00:16:00 Author: NoddingPenguin Posts: 71 |
I'll queue this up for the evening and review when I finish but this looks pretty good and the reviews are fairly positive, so I'm excited! | 2011-01-30 00:59:00 Author: XFennoX Posts: 82 |
Thanks is there a level you want me to check out also? Also a few more update notes: - Added some lighting to the under water portion of the level - Added a counter to the switches at the area where you throw the rock. Now when you hit the button, the entrances will never close, even if the button is hit again. Edit: Oops, didn't see your signature there, XFennoX - I'll queue your levels now and play them in the morning. (It's 2:16 AM here) | 2011-01-30 02:11:00 Author: NoddingPenguin Posts: 71 |
Thanks is there a level you want me to check out also? *does violent head-jerk towards sig* Any of those, if you can | 2011-01-30 03:47:00 Author: XFennoX Posts: 82 |
::EDIT:: Review as follow- I want to say I really liked the concept and theme for the level. The voice acting was a great surprise as well and definetely added 'character' to the level. The gameplay was good for me however the environment itself seemed to lack just a little bit. I'm not sure if that was intended (simplistic look) but maybe you could try added some changes/stickers/ whatever it may be to bring the environment to life and make it 'pop'. Overall, I really enjoyed playing it. I look forward to your other creations in the future Shifty -Ignore --> - Queued for a second go, review shortly! | 2011-01-30 15:58:00 Author: The inFamous Sack Posts: 54 |
First of all, I have to agree with the others, that the voice acting made the level all that more special As for the scenery, I felt it had a sort of charm I would compare with the story levels, and I enjoyed the look of the level. Gameplay seemed fine throughout, nothing special, but still entertaining. My only folly is with the laggy area around the buttons, as mentioned above by other posters, and also the extremely dark lighting in the tunnels situated near the end of the level. I found it strange these dark spike tunnels actually had lights, but were still too dark to see by me or my friend, so I'm sure it just wasn't my tv :/ Overall, I had a fun trek through this level, and commend you for such a good job in creating it | 2011-01-30 16:53:00 Author: talmasca Posts: 196 |
Thanks, talmasca. It's strange about those lights. I mean, it's under water, in a cave, so it HAS to be some-what dark and tricky to get through but I don't seem to be having that much of a problem getting through or seeing it. I can always add more lights though. And about the laggy buttons, I really don't know what I can do there. When I play I don't get any lag at all, the only lag I get is when the floor collapses at the score board. Maybe I'll ask around on the help forum to see what I can do. Thanks again for the feedback | 2011-01-30 17:09:00 Author: NoddingPenguin Posts: 71 |
not a bad level. I mean it wasn't amazing, but not bad. I don't really know what to say to be honest, which is kinda weird. I had trouble seeing the spikes in the water. I liked how the gold bars gave you points, I was not expecting that. Oh and the part where you throw the rock at the three switches. This little fire patches are F'ing annoying! | 2011-01-30 17:58:00 Author: LukeCF Posts: 790 |
Just played your level. It's good, especially for a first level. The voice acting was very good as was the camera work. One suggestion I could think of is to maybe tweak the rock throwing part a bit because when I tried to jump to throw the rock it would switch layers so I ended up doing it by jump down a layer and throwing it then. I can't really think of any suggestions besides that. Good level! BTW I would really appreciate it if you would F4F the level in my sig (A Helping Hand...) thanks. | 2011-01-31 00:17:00 Author: brnxblze Posts: 1318 |
Thanks for the feedback of "Tilt, Roll, and Drop". This level has nice LBP1 visuals and LBP2 gameplay if you know what I mean. VISUALS: The canyon background fits well in this level, and the materials are neatly polished. I think you need to work more on the lighting in cavern part. SOUND: Great voice acting of the miner character and good use of LBP1 musics and LBP2 cinematic musics. GAMEPLAY: The gameplay of this level is a bit short but impressive, and the collecting the golds are an treasure hunting pleasure. The grabinator puzzle is a little off, but the usage of the grappling hook works well. OVERALL: A neat level with clever ideas. A yeah vote and a positive review. | 2011-01-31 00:20:00 Author: JustinArt Posts: 1314 |
I really enjoyed your level. At first I thought it was really short, then I fell down the pit =D. The only complaint I have is that at some parts, it seems a little too difficult. Otherwise excellent job. | 2011-01-31 10:17:00 Author: Unknown User |
Thanks guys, brnxblze I've queued up your level. Also, about the rock throwing puzzle, I know it's kinda rough but in regards to not being able to jump - that's kinda the point , you're supposed to take a run up and throw it instead of jumping. It's a little unclear though, granted. Will definitely take all this feedback on board for my next level | 2011-01-31 13:06:00 Author: NoddingPenguin Posts: 71 |
awesome level man! the voice acting was great and the visuals were awesome. the part where you are almost at the treasure but fall and you have to hit the buttons with a rock could use little more light though. all in all spectacular job! | 2011-02-02 12:23:00 Author: yomamma12120 Posts: 11 |
