I need HP bar help!

Archive: 4 posts

I consider myself a technical person, but I can't think of a good way to visibly refill health.

I made a health bar out of hologram. It follows sackbots. When a magnetic key/tag gets close enough, a sequencer triggers toggle switches one by one and turns off parts of the hologram health bar one by one until it's empty and you lose the level. When the key moves away, health stops depleting.

In order to refill health, I tried connecting a button to the "reset" trigger of the sequencer. This refilled the health, but the holograms didn't reactivate. How can I make hologram that is already hooked up to a toggle switch on a sequencer turn back on?

Instead of toggles, I would use a sequencer set to positional. As your health decreases, the bar on the sequencer will move and you can have batteries set through the sequencer connected to each bit of holo. When you reset the counter/timer/whatever, the sequencer will go back to its initial position with all the batteries turned on and your hp bar will be full.2011-01-29 04:25:00

Think you for your help, but I managed to fix it. It only took two hours of staring at the screen with a headache tying my brain in knots

It's a Survival Challenge called "The Killing Room (of Zombies)" in case you want to play it. It's basically done, just a few more details and it'll be ready to publish, complete with holo-health bars, 8 increasingly difficult zombie waves, 4 enemy types, and 4 guns to buy. It'll be published by some time tommorrow most likely.

I never tire of seeing different solutions t various problems. It is endlessly fun, and often enlightening, to see how different people would solve a problem. I'll offer mine just for reference.

i would have used OR gates. Place one OR gate for each part of the bar. When the bar is fresh, number 1 on the selector is active, So output 1 should go to all of the OR gates. After a hit, it moves to output 2, so that only goes to 4 of the OR gates. Output 3 only hits three of them.

I like your solution a bit more though because it is more dynamic, and opens the potential for varied damage.
