Temple of the Forgotten

http://lbp.me/v/w2fx5m My very first full fledged level in LBP2. It includes some cinematics, voice overs, puzzles, and a boss! It can be played with 1 or multiple players. I would really like some feedback on how to improve this level and make it better than it is now. In return I will leave feedback on a level of your choosing. This is my first LBP2 level... while I do have 19 LBP levels, I would like some friendly criticism. I Love how you named him Teo <3 The voiceovers are great, not many levels i've seen have voiceovers, so thats a great added touch, It's great how you have a boss battle and all but its pretty simple, the actual boss isn't lethal, so it was pretty easy to stand near him and not get squashed by the rocks, maybe if you made the boss lethal, people would have to worry about dodging the falling rocks and not getting to close the the boss. I hated how I tapped X like a million times and fell when I got to the top maybe thats just me and my retardedness All in all a great level. If you'd like to check out my level, the link is in the sig. Hope this helps. | 2011-01-29 02:33:00 Author: xForrest Posts: 72 |

Yo. Over all pretty great. Although in the first section you should lower the score bubbles so you can actually get them without jumping. I thought the part where you had to grab the moving spikes at the top was pretty ingenious, but sadly I felt like it was ruined by having it plainly spelled out with that R1 sticker that was there... Boss seemed unable to harm me what so ever? I liked that you used the voice over, I liked most of your dialogue especially there at the end. But personally I think the voice work was kind of bland, but you know what, I highly doubt you're an actor.. so it all works. I may heart this... have not decided yet. | 2011-01-29 05:19:00 Author: LukeCF Posts: 790 |
Quick update. I made the Boss have some lethal parts. When you go near him he will become lethal. So make sure you don't get squished by rocks... or the rocks don't push you into his lethal-ness! Fixed the placement of those score bubbles and got rid of the obvious R1 signs. | 2011-01-29 12:14:00 Author: Fumo161 Posts: 210 |

After playing the level i have come up with an overall summary of it. Pros Firstly the use of materials are chosen and implemented very well for their purpose. The colour schemes they create combined with the warm and almost dusty feel of the temple really set the scene. The challenges you face within the temple are very well thought out and vary in difficulty so a lot of people will be able to get to grips with this level fairly quickly and have a good chance of completing it. The cutscenes and the use of sackbots as instructive tutors within the level provide players a better knowledge of the environment and break up the action and change the pace in a good way. Cons The actual scenery itself (though mostly good) on occasion can look a little basic and it is clear some parts look a little rushed. An example of this is the multi platform spike trap which could do with some extra detail to improve its overall look. The beginning of the level also has quite a blocky feel with the temple looking quite well looked after rather than forgotten. If you were to add cracks or damgaged sections of wall to the background this would improve the overall continuity of the level. Overall i give it an 8 out of 10 and rated it with a yay!! also recommeneded to a few other people for you as well hope it helps get you some plays. | 2011-01-29 21:11:00 Author: Arastoph Posts: 216 |
I really enjoyed this level. I like how you use voice overs - not too many people do. However I'd say you should also add captions or speech bubbles, you'd be amazed at how easier you are to understand if you can also read what is being said. Not that you were hard to understand - the audio quality was great. But I still think text would be nice. Also I think the actual temple looked a little blocky. Not always a bad thing but in this case it'd have been nice to see some more shapes in the level. Some more decorations would be nice too. All in all though, really good level. This level was very fun and the sackbots and cutscenes added a lot to it. LOL at your voice hahaha, plus the ending was pretty funny. and <3 | 2011-01-29 22:53:00 Author: Unknown User |

Just got done with the level. I thoroughly enjoyed the theme throughout! The voice work took me by total surprise, it's the first time I've seen a creator implement this, very nice indeed. I like the dialogue but sometimes it seems as if the voice itself cut out, it was also a bit monotone, it just needs a little bit of work done to it. You had me laughing at the 'scream' at the end cinematic, very nice touch. For the boss, I was able to stand in one spot and neither be bothered by the falling rocks nor his lethal parts, making him a bit easy to beat. Maybe try randomized rocks (smaller size rocks of course) ? That would keep the player moving and guessing, all while trying to avoid the lethal parts of the boss. Again, nice job with the level!! Could you please give the level in my signature a play? I'd really appreciate feedback, thanks!!! Shifty | 2011-01-30 00:16:00 Author: The inFamous Sack Posts: 54 |

Pretty fun, there are some "safe spots" from the boss. Nice voice overs, loved the ending One of the best platformers i have played on lbp2, is this a updated version of an lbp1 level ? | 2011-01-30 00:54:00 Author: arsenalfan_1995 Posts: 229 |
Hahaha. Very funny ending. Gameplay: 4/5 - I think you had some very nice elements of gameplay in there. Cool boss as well. I would suggest infinite checkpoints though. Voice Acting: 3/5 - For the most part, I think you did a great job with the voice acting! There were a couple of times where it sounded like you hesitated, but very good for the most part. Scenery: 3/5 - I think the scenery could have used some work. I saw a lot of what you had made was made by just using the grid tool. Try messing around more with the corner editor as well as light, stickers, and decorations. But you definitely made it look like a temple, so I applaud you. Sounds: 3/5 - I thought they music that you picked out was fine and the sound effects were ok as well. Nothing was very rememberable though. Overall, it was a great level! I had a lot of fun playing it! Please check out the level in my sig when you have the time. Thanks! | 2011-01-30 01:46:00 Author: ShamgarBlade Posts: 1010 |
I quite like this level: sure, it had blocky segments that suggested it was a rather dapper looking shrine than an old, forgotten temple, but the voice acting was a unique touch which gived it that extra bit of charisma that most levels lack. The platforming was fairly good, especially near the beginning with the two levers and the grappling hook quite an ingenious puzzle for the hook to solve. Overall, I enjoyed playing it: sure, there was some cursing at the segment of wall jumping, but that was quickly availed by actually pacing my mashing of 'x'. Well done on an awesome level btw, I liked the reference to Super Mario Bros you put at the end | 2011-01-31 08:06:00 Author: XFennoX Posts: 82 |
Thank you all for the various feedback. I have college in an hour so Im going to have to do some feedback on your levels when I get back. Apologies for that. | 2011-01-31 13:04:00 Author: Fumo161 Posts: 210 |
Sorry for the double post and sorry for another missed day. Today I will queue and give feedback to everyone who gave feedback on my level. Again thank you, I appreciate the feedback, it really helps. | 2011-02-01 16:02:00 Author: Fumo161 Posts: 210 |
Hey Fumo! I played this last night. Here are my thoughts: - Overall I'd say it was a fun experience - I think the voice acting was decent, but I would agree with someone above me - it was very monotone - I didn't notice a lot of detail throughout, which gave it more of an empty vibe. I'm not just talking about stickers and objects, but I thought the overall design was slightly on the 'boxy' side. - I thought the boss was the best part of the experience. Aside from being easy (which I figured was intended), I liked the falling rocks, the moving arms (which the one would catch fire, nice touch), and I liked the fact that he didn't disappear after defeating him. I thought it was a solid level. I didn't notice any glitches. Congrats on your first LBP2 level - keep up the good work! | 2011-02-04 14:39:00 Author: Powershifter Posts: 668 |
Queued it for tommorow, sounds fun | 2011-02-04 19:00:00 Author: Blanchrocker Posts: 142 |
Hi there Fumo, i played your level this morning, and found it very enjoyable. It was also the first level i played which had voice recording in it, and im very impressed with the quality. Some of the obstacles in your level were very original, i liked the spiked swinging traps you had to grab hold of. Your boss fight at the end looked awsome, it kinda reminded me of the rock people from the first Rayman game, but was relatively easy though, but thats nothing major, so well done there . Oh, and i lol'd at the end. I rated your level 'yay' and gave it a heart Levels are in my sig. if you wish to play 'em, thanks. | 2011-02-05 11:17:00 Author: Blanchrocker Posts: 142 |
Just played the level. Everything seems fitting and the gameplay is good. I like the guide, although he should have a speech-bubble, too. In addition, put a few more sounds in the level to add to the atmosphere. The boss was somewhat nice, but the falling blocks never killed me, maybe make them burning like the boss or add spikes. Overall a good level, hearted it | 2011-02-05 12:38:00 Author: Unknown User |
Hey, just finished your level! I liked it! Ancient temple levels are revelant to my interest. The obstacles and traps were solid, voice-acting was good and informative, fun plot and awesome boss! Material was welll chosen on your level, but you could've worked on material more, like using UV tool, checking details n' stuff. Overall, It was quite enjoyable level. Easily can recommend to platformer players. I give it yay and heart! I'd like you to try my F4F level in my signature and leave some feedback. | 2011-02-05 17:14:00 Author: Coconuts Posts: 384 |
Thank you very much for the feedback. I haven't been around lately because college is really taking up a lot of the time I could spend playing on LBP2. But education goes first.... On that note... anyone know where I can hire a professional voice actor? I plan to fine tune some parts of the level and redo Teo's voice a little more. I agree it sounds mono-tone but then again, my voice is not the greatest in the world. I also plan to make a sequel where you travel with Teo to the OTHER Temple that's mentioned in the end. I would also like help on well... making obstacles! I kinda ran out of ideas after taking such a long time to make the Boss. I heard that very good levels are made by more than one person. I would like feedback on how I can get this level to get MM picked. I worked so incredibly hard on it. | 2011-02-08 16:23:00 Author: Fumo161 Posts: 210 |
