If you recall the LBP2 Story Level 'mind control' then this will make more sense...

I've got a 2D 'asteroids' style level finished, for one player only. The player walks into a controllinator on the 'player ship', and the game begins.

What I want to do is add 3 more control chairs to the ship, but not wire them to movers, so they are essentially 'observer' chairs.

Somehow I need to get the game to recognise how many players are present, and not begin the challenge until all players are seated. I'm sure this is possible as something very similiar happens at the start of the aformentioned 'Mind Control' level (it's in the asylum).

The lifts on that demo level that showed off the various animal-vehicles did the same thing too, I believe.

It's hard for me to experiment and figure it out, since I'm currently only able to play single-player. Any help would be greatly appreciated, as I don't want the extra players bodging up the experience for the person playing.

Wouldn't a simple 'require all' player sensor in the 'player ship' do the job?2011-01-28 20:45:00

Actually, come to think of it, that would work.
Heh, that's happened to me a lot, going into rocket science when the answer was staring me right in the face.

Doh, of course! I've been over-thinking things!

The sensor radius on the control chairs are gonna be a problem though, unless I can put them all in the exact same spot... can you put controllinators on a microchip and still enter them normally?

edit: ah crap... that's a no.

Can't figure out how to ensure player 1 always gets the driver seat :S

If you wanna work out exatcly how many characters here we go:

If you want ONE person - A player sensor set to require '1'
If you want MORE than 1 - Have a NOT GATE and a PLAYER SENSOR set to require '1'
If you want 3 sackiees - Have a sensor requiring '3' etc.

Simples!

Right... think I've got it working. Careful positioning of the control chairs ensures the first player into the ship is always in control.

I've got the 'require all players' sensor that begins the game attached to the microchip of the control chair that's in the middle of the ship - this will work, right? Or would I be better off putting it on the ship itself?

Sorry for the stupid questions, but without someone to help me test it, I'm kinda screwed. And I don't want it to fall apart the first time someone plays in a group!

Well... as far as I can tell, it works now... if anyone is bored enough to help me test it, just add me on PSN... you'll have the dubious honour of being my first sackbuddy.
