The sound that only kids can hear

Archive: 32 posts

This is a sound that only children/teenagers can hear.

Listen to it here (http://www.mahalo.com/answers/can-you-hear-this-sound-this-is-the-sound-only-kids-can-hear-can-you-hear-it)

Some people say it hurts, although personally I just experience a high pitched ringing in my ear, but some small children may find it painful. It's thought of by the elderly as a teen repellant, whearas I think it's the perfect ring tone for college

Do with it what you will

This was popular at school 3 years ago, when we'd just started. Being in a lesson and suddenly hearing *eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee* with the teacher not realising was hell, because if the teacher didn't know, they weren't told off >.<2011-01-28 16:18:00

Well I'm 36 and I couldn't hear it but I did barely make out a high frequency sound. I could tell something was playing but I'm sure I'd ignore it if I was in public.2011-01-28 16:22:00

Oi-vey. I could CLEARLY hear that. It hurts. >_<

We don't have anything like this at my school (much to the fact that we'd cringe if we heard this xD). But it does sound tempting to test out.

EEEEEeeeeeeeeee.... Putting it in shops annoys me. Not everyone wants to steal their stupid mars bars. D: Headphones are wonderful things however. 2011-01-28 17:48:00

I don't find it too disturbing. Maybe I got used to it at school!
If this keeps up, I'll be able to hear these kinds of sounds until I die! (or at least finish school)

People used to get the iPhone app with that sound on it and everybody in the class were getting mad at them... because it's funny the first times but the 20th time is annoying as hell.2011-01-28 18:56:00

Same here, I can hear it now. It's especially annoying (and more frequent) when I'm lying in bed trying to go to sleep.

Haven't been a teen for a few years and I can hear it clearly and I remember it from my high school days. Was pretty **** annoying when I did here it too but now that I think about it I can't remember the last time I actually heard it (and I don't miss it).2011-01-29 03:23:00

I can hear it. Our science teacher was messing around with it, putting it really loud and saying while we squirmed:

"AHAHAHAAHAH! I CAN'T HEAR ANTHING!!!!!!"

MY HEAD. D: I hear it, but I get more of a pain in the front of my head, not my ears. Rrr.

Sounds like crickets.

Tell me that again when you've got 250 adult male crickets in a 10 gallon tank at midnight in the pitch black. o3o

I have a permanent high-pitched ringing in my ears (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tinnitus)anyway from playing too many gigs stood directly in front of an amplifier.

Let that be a lesson to any of you rock wannabe kiddies..... Wear ear protection

Seriously... do!
