Help - Trying to simulate tilt.

Archive: 6 posts

I am working on a submarine level I am going side scroll, so its the sub from the side with a controlinator seat just situated for now on a simi circle just so I can get the movement down. I can make it move up down left and right with no problem, what I want to do is have the nose tilt down slightly when I move forward (right), and have have the ship tilt back slightly when I pull backwards. I am looking for a way to have this tilt happen automatically and not be a controllable action. I know this is not the way a sub moves but I think it would help for aiming. as the player traverses the level.2011-01-28 08:58:00

I think that if you put a gyroscope on it, making it tilt, which only activates when you are going forward would work. This may mean that you tilt back when you reverse, I'm not sure.

You'd also need a second gyroscope connected to a NOT switch (Which is also connected to the left stick?) so you it would remain straight when not moving.

I think something like this.

I have no idea however how the tilt up and down will influence the left/right movement that is also taking place at the same time... Will the movement be angled as well all of a sudden?

The "local space" toggle can let you decide if you want it to or not

Take a look at the Bumblebee vehicle you get for completing "Flying in the Face of Danger." Open up the microchip and take a look at the Movement Logic. They have a tilt function wired up here. Either build your own from scratch, or just copy the one it has and plop it into your sub. Wire it up, tweak it to your liking, and away you go.2011-01-28 17:51:00
