Molten Popcorn Perils of the Third KindJirugameshi A simple, challenging platformer set on an active volcano. Avoid firey demise as you quest for tasty popcorn for grandma. After years of work (not really), many other stalled projects and the announcement of the PSP2, I've finally published my second real level for LBP PSP! Test your platforming skills in this short, simple platformer set on a volcano (why is a small house next to a volcano anyway?) to reach the top and make some delicious popcorn so that grandma can enjoy her television show. Includes lots of varied obstacles, an armored lava-proof research vehicle to steal borrow and some friendly (or not?) giant wildlife to help you along the way. Enjoy. http://www.lbpcentral.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=29995http://www.lbpcentral.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=29992 http://www.lbpcentral.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=29990http://www.lbpcentral.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=29991 http://www.lbpcentral.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=29993http://www.lbpcentral.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=29994 | 2011-01-28 02:03:00 Author: Gilgamesh Posts: 2536 |
Hey, the level was very fun and the platformeing was very cool, but sometimes it got frustrating with the lack of checkpoints in some areas. The visuals could used a little work but I did like your corner editing. | 2011-01-28 02:38:00 Author: Random Posts: 673 |
This sounds awesome. Be sure to post it over at the Planetarium too, though. | 2011-01-28 03:59:00 Author: Voltergeist Posts: 1702 |

Ignore that last comment mate, must of had gamers block. Yeah good level mate, quite a challenge. Liked the script and characters, popcorn looked tastey too. Nice to have two different ways to go in one part of your level. Lost a few points on the flower spinning bit! Good stuff pal. My levels: Going for a wonder, Do you get out much, Trials LBP, Gas Panic, Flamin' bush fires! | 2011-01-28 18:43:00 Author: JetArtois Posts: 232 |

Hmm, I'm on the fence. On the one hand, I found it humorous and fun. On the other hand, the visuals needed work and difficulty was a bit high. I gave it three stars. Still, it was enjoyable. | 2011-01-30 15:27:00 Author: Fading-Dream Posts: 164 |
Hey man I played your level and I thought it was pretty good so I gave it 3 stars. Here's why: THE GOOD______________________________________________ _________________________________ - Corner Editing was great for the most part. The main areas in the level had great detail and made the environment look really nice. - The fire stuff looked great! The special effects with the fireballs looked really cool all the time. THE BAD_______________________________________________ __________________________________ - Visuals were a little dull at times and sort of randomish. - Some of the transitions for moving up the volcano didn't have much corner editing. - The black material makes it really tough to see outlines and it was hard to tell in a well lit room what layer it was in. WHY?______________________________________________ ______________________________________ - An interesting story with good-looking characters and a beautiful environment most of the time. Parts were random with the corner editing but for the most part were still good. - A solid 6.5/10 :star::star::star: Great level and I think you'll be a very good creator. Please don't take any of this personally as it is just advice and my opinion and I mean nothing bad by it. | 2011-01-30 21:04:00 Author: WoodburyRaider Posts: 1651 |
Thanks for the comments and for playing! Much appreciated. I hope it wasn't too difficult, I've tried to make the difficulty progress gradually. And yes, I still need work on environments/visuals, hopefully practice makes perfect. I've added some pictures to the first post. | 2011-01-31 15:19:00 Author: Gilgamesh Posts: 2536 |
Hey Gilgamesh! I gave this level a play the other day and I really enjoyed it! The spinning plants were a bit unforgiving, but I like a little healthy challenge in a level ;D The vehicle section was well executed! All the props were beautifully corner edited and stickered. The characters, house, vehicle, rats, and the like looked fantastic. They do kinda outshine the mostly black rock surroundings. I think a healthy dose of stickers could add a lot of texture and authenticity to the volcano areas. Good writing and a fun little story. I loved the ending! ;D | 2011-02-06 06:47:00 Author: SeekingTruth86 Posts: 151 |
Grats on the spotlight Gilgamesh! Well deserved! | 2011-03-08 06:54:00 Author: SeekingTruth86 Posts: 151 |
Thanks! It honestly took me by surprise since I had published this level a while ago. Looking at it again, it really is a mix of pretty eccentric things. I'm not sure when I'll start a new PSP project, since I have yet to finish my current PSP game. Everyone was complaining that there weren't enough levels being published because of all the community projects, which was why I worked more seriously on finishing this level to publish it. I'm glad people enjoyed it. I know I had fun creating it! | 2011-03-08 07:25:00 Author: Gilgamesh Posts: 2536 |
congratulations on the spotlight gilgamesh, this level was definitely deserving, i loved this level, it looked great and the game play was quite original. good work! | 2011-03-10 06:14:00 Author: darcyh Posts: 191 |
Great fun, the volcano is a massive clich? but,for your innovative and bizzare use of it, I will forgive you( this time). Your platforming was simple, but also challenging. Corner editing needs some work in places but the occasional rough edge was added a "charm" to the level. Based on funness and replay value I'm giving this an 8/10 because, despite its charm lovely platforming, there was somethingg unplaceably irksome about this level. | 2011-04-22 01:05:00 Author: unXpectiD Posts: 1132 |
