Tilt, Roll, and Drop

Hey, LBP2 players

This is my first LBP2 level, and it is a level I previously made in LBP2 beta [except with larger scale, different background, and variety of musics] It's a game where you move the platforms with the contolinator to put the rolling in the barrels into the pipes in the right color to score points. It's pretty much inspired by one of the 'WiiFit plus' games. At the start of the game, you can change musics, look up tutorials, and check the high scores before you begin the game. Enjoy.

I've played this a few times. It's a great concept & execution. Really addictive & i love the control scheme... puts me all on edge. I think you should run with this and make a really high end ultra edition.2011-01-28 07:49:00

Great little game here. Loved the controls (inc six-axis).
So nice and simple, but has the challenge factor needed also.
I agree with ninja, soup this level up, and add a bunch of stuff! It will be awesome.

Some suggestions:
- The camera zooms out so far in the start, that I couldn't read the sticky notes. You could shrink down the music selection/cam to help.
- The visuals could use some work. Go for a clean look using a few materials/stickers. And maybe add some extra visuals with holo material?

Ultra edition sounds awesome. Well, I want to concentrate on the upcoming "Cybernetic Adventures" level series first, but whenever I need a break making the series, that will be worth making. Yeah, I'll give this level some visual boost. I'll go see what I could do to this game.

Just got finished playing this level, and you've done a really good job here!

One thing I can say is that I guess the colors that drop are supposed to be random, but they're not. I've played through a few times to check and the pattern's always the same, Green Red, Blue, Blue, Green, etc... The randomizers in LBP2 aren't truly random, you'd need to add some kind of random seed generator to your logic. Of course, I doubt anyone would bother to memorize much of the pattern, so it's hardly game-breaking, just wanted to point it out.

And also, what do you think about adding an easy mode that maps the tilt of the middle platform to L2 and R2? The whole time I was playing I was just imagining it, and it seemed like it would make for a great casual experience.

All in all this is a great job, keep up the good work!

Since you're doing F4F, could you check out my Zen Mastermind level and leave feedback in its thread at https://lbpcentral.lbp-hub.com/index.php?t=45106-Zen-Mastermind-by-Elijah_Caine? I'd appreciate it!

hey, played the level earlier and realy enjoyed it, i agree with Elijah about the middle platform (also, play his mastermind level its amazing!) but over all great fun, maybe potential for a great versus game there aswell if you could 2-4 two versions of it on the screen

if you get a chance for some F4F i'm always looking for feedback on my levels, latest offering Hard times in space 2, cheers

keep up the good work!

It looked great, it definitely reminded me of the Wii Fit game however I found it incredibly frustrating. Using the six-axis to tilt the middle platform was not very intuitive. Even playing for several minutes I kept forgetting that to move the middle platform I had to tilt the controller, I woudl have much preferred if just like others have suggested it was tied to the L + R buttons.

I also found that the coloured block things would knock the platforms the wrong way, especially the green. I would have it all lined up for the green to go straight into its basket but instead it would roll of the top / middle platform onto the next causing that platform to tip (presumably under the weight of the green block) and the green would then fall into either the blue or red depending on what way it was rolling.

Still the potential for a good game is there.

Thanks for the feedbacks. Maybe I should add the L1 and R1 feature to this level. I'll keep this one in mind in the next update. I updated this level with better visuals and 5 additional musics.

Very nice game, I loved the use of physics when the ball went to the opposite side I wanted it, and had do to quickly flick the platform to throw the ball over to the right side. I pretty much agree with everything mentioned, also. I think the visuals could do with a little work. Nothing specific, but just something to make them more appealing.

My F4F level is in my signature

Very interesting concept. I'll be sure to check it out soon! Queued.

EDIT: Just played it, and I absolutely loved the idea!

Music Selector/Instructions/Leaderboard: 2.5/5
- It was nice to leave those as an option for people to look at, but may I suggest making it a little more simple for people to go past? When I want to play it again, I find it annoying having to jump over colored jelly cube things.

Gameplay: 4/5
- I love the idea behind this! Its fantastic! It really requires you to use your brain. I did notice though that if you leave the left or right platform facing one way and let go of the control sticks, the barrels have the weight to make the platform tilt the other way. Maybe you could make it to where it stays the direction you previously pointed the controller stick?

Scenery: 3/5
- It could use a little bit of work. It really doesn't matter too much in a mini game like this, but it is nice when you want to WOW your players.

Sounds: 4/5
- I thought the music selection was decent and I thought the sound effects were good enough to please anyone playing.

Overall, nice concept. I'm giving it a . If you could, check out the level in my sig. Thanks.

Excellent level.

Great use of the sixaxis, it's fun to have to get so physically involved, especially in when the Hard Mode kicks in, and it was really satisfying to be able to pull things off just at the last second. I can understand where people are coming from about having an Easy Mode with the L1+R1 buttons, but I think that might work better as either a none-scoring practice mode, or on a seperate level just so as not to confuse the scoreboarding.
Even the fact that the barrels can knock your slopes out of place was a fun mechanic after I got over the surprise the first time it happened, because it meant I constantly had to pay attention to what both hands were doing at all times to hold everything in place.

Definitely my favourite mini-game already, just as it is. All I can suggest is a bit more polish on the visuals, and possibly a menu screen ? la Clockworx 2 which would help bypass Shamgar's issue.

I was simply floored by how awesome this game was. When hard-mode jumped in, I was definitely like, oh noes!!! I had a smile on my face the entire time. Excellent work. I do have one minor gripe, and I don't know if it was your intention, but getting the green balls in is very difficult not because you have to work to get them in, but because the platforms tilt on their own when the balls land on the raised end. I don't know, its a problem easily thwarted by holding the direction you want the slope to stay, just didn't feel natural for me to hold it in place. Awesome level regardless, will recommend to friends!

If you ever get the chance, I'd appreciate any feedback on my strategy shooter, Cosmic Defender (https://lbpcentral.lbp-hub.com/index.php?t=46494-Cosmic-Defender). I'm looking forward to more level by you

Pretty cool mini-game. I liked that you used sixaxis + the control sticks. I thought the best part was hard mode, how about a level where the whole thing is hard mode? That would be cool. But yeah, nice mini-game. I hope to get started on your Hero levels soon.

I would appreciate it if you would F4F the level in my sig (A Helping Hand...). Thanks.

I just played your level for F4F; I can't give you very good feedback though because my controller doesn't have a working SixAxis, so I apologize for that. I liked what I saw though, and it was surprisingly playable with a dead middle platform. I thought everything looked nice and everything I saw seemed to work well. One little quirk I found is that it's possible to actually throw a barrel over the two side buckets if the wrong color is about to go in. I don't know if it's intentional or not. If it's not, you might not want to fix it though since it seemed like it would be difficult to really abuse.2011-02-01 23:05:00

Thanks for the feedbacks and advices. As requested by some players, the L1 and R1 button has now been added, so you can either use those buttons or tilt the controller to move the top platform; whichever you prefer. Also, I added more visuals to this level. It took me a while to figure out how to add the L1 and R1 movement, so sorry for taking so long. Hope this helps.2011-02-04 03:05:00

Very nice minigame here, fun and addicting.

Having either SIXAXIS or L1/R1 is a great design decision, and the colors have enough vibrance to easily differentiate them. It really picks up so don't let your guard down!

Absolutely excellent level! As others have said the basic idea and execution is flawless, a lot of fun and very addictive, especially once hard mode kicked in. However I agree with others feedback about the platforms not staying steady unless you're holding the analogue stick as the barrels are too heavy, but it's only a minor issue.

Here's an idea though, and I don't know how hard it would be to implement. Do you know the story mode level with the bounce pads sackbots you have to guide from one end to another? Well, on that level when it's one player, that player controls all four bounce pads, but eventually when it gets to four players, they control one bounce pad each. Do you think it would be possible to add a similar mechanic to this level, for two or three player cooperative? It would really send your level into the next stratosphere if you could do that!

Thanks, Foofles. I saw what you put in the review. Yeah, the L1 and R1 feature made a huge difference to this level.

And thanks, agsrule. I'll be sure to check out your level.

Really enjoyed this level, a real brain twister when it came to the controls.

Would be cool with a "advanced" version of this with bonuses (1 ball every second or something like that) and such.

Hey there, your level is pretty fun! Contrary to some of the reviews, I had no issues with sixaxis at all. I had fun tilting the controller and coordinating both sticks at once. You took a fairly simple concept and executed it nicely. I can't even really think of anything that could be improved! Maybe, as aforementioned, you could make it so you can't "toss" out the pieces.

Would you please give my 99 Red Balloons (https://lbpcentral.lbp-hub.com/index.php?t=45005-99-Red-Balloons) level a try and give some feedback in the forum? It's a versus level so it's best played with another.

i know you, so i don't know if i allready asked if you could play my skunk bunny adventures (link in signature) level as a F4F

well i'm going to play your level now.

will EDIT my post with the review later. see ya!

here you go with my notes i made during the play:

good tutorial
- try to make the automatical controllinator invisible AND let it catch you earlier - so you don't need this stairs. no stairs. no stairs...
- i wish i could throw the balls when they are allready on the wrong side. its frustrating when you know... gah... now i get a wrong one - even when it i s not in the wrong holder allready. you should find a solution for that than it would make 100% times more fun i guess ( or to throw them easier... dunno if itis possible i was not able to)
- my idea for better controlls: L1 and R1 for upstairs, left and right crossbutton for leftplattform and square and circle for rightplattform
- how about a powerup stone from time to time? featuring two right colors or 3?

good level so far! but needs a bit fun factor cause it can get frustrating fast.
you also should try to disable the rotate controller option. i guess nobody uses them. (but thats only what i think)

sorry if i so und hard. english is not my first speek and i need to learn sound nicer in english but i hope i helped you!
