Need some help with the triggering of cameras
Archive: 4 posts
I have a few establishing shots in my level. When the player gets to a certain area, a sensor switch triggers a camera to show the area a little clearer. However when I tested this with more than one player it all got a bit annoying. The problem was each time a character would walk through the switch, the same movie would play. So if four people were playing my level, the action would stop and the same movie would play four times. There must be a way to stop this. A way to make it so once the player gets to a certain area, a movie plays once then never again - no matter what. I thought about putting the sensor switch on some dissolve material and destroying it once the movie had played once, but that'd just look terrible in game. | 2011-01-27 19:16:00 Author: NoddingPenguin Posts: 71 |
cant you set the switch to one-shot? or place a counter set to 1, then hook the sensor up to that? | 2011-01-27 19:19:00 Author: EinRobot Posts: 739 |
A counter - didn't think of that. Thanks for the tip, will give it a go. | 2011-01-27 19:26:00 Author: NoddingPenguin Posts: 71 |
A counter - didn't think of that. Thanks for the tip, will give it a go. EinRobot is right. A 1-count counter acts as a memory switch; once it receives a signal, it is switched on and stays switched on until something else sends a signal to its reset input. You can hook it up to a non-looping sequencer that contains your movie cameras or other actions on its canvas. Optionally, a battery at the end of the canvas or an action from somewhere else resets both the counter and the sequencer after which a player can trigger the movie again. | 2011-01-27 19:50:00 Author: Antikris Posts: 1340 |
