Multiple missions from the same sackbot.

Im having some trouble figuring out how to accomplish this. Essentially what happens is I have a sackbot used as an actor near the start of my level, you get close to him it activates a mouth which gives you a "mission." You go to said location and do whatever he told you to do and return to him for a reward. Now this stuff Ive got all figured out already by disregarding all sackbot logic, you go to place and do whatever and it dissolves a block or something that lead back to a proximity switch connected to an AND gate, you get close to the proxy switch and as long as youve done whatever the goal was its giving points just fine. Now what Id like to do is have him thank you for completing the mission and after that offer you a 2nd one to do essentially the same thing somewhere else. If tried setting up NOT gates to turn the first mission off and activate the 2nd after completing the 1st but it wasnt working right. Any help would greatly be appreciated but go slow, this logic stuff confuses the hell out of me. Edited for clarity: Essentially all Im looking for is how to setup the logic on my sackbot to turn the 1st mouth off and the 2nd mouth on after Ive completed the goal, pretty sure I can figure the rest out myself. | 2011-01-27 07:39:00 Author: Unknown User |
Have you tried setting up a selector, input 1 no mission complete, output 1 first magic mouth input 2 first mission complete, output 2 second magic mouth | 2011-01-27 10:13:00 Author: RAWTalent Posts: 224 |
Could you use two microchips, and just turn them off/on? (each one containing a magic mouths/mission) | 2011-01-27 11:23:00 Author: midnight_heist Posts: 2513 |
I was really only asking for half of what I was after because I figured with a start I could finish it on my own. Ultimately I figured out a workable (although horribly overcomplicated) solution last night. Final design is I put 3 microchips onto the sackbot board, 1 for each mission. First chip had a mouth not connected to anything that would activate as you got close enoough, then a tag sensor, 2nd mouth a score giver connected to an AND gate. Then somewhere in the world I attached a player sensor that would spawn a turned off hologram box with a colored key next to my sackbot. You go to the location it spawns the box turning on the sensor and that was was wired to an AND gate as well with a player sensor so it didnt reward you until you returned, then that was wired into a selector that cycled to the next chip which pretty much had the exact same setup. Like I said extremely overly complicated but this logic stuff confuses me and I just wanted it to work. If you want to see it in action search for my Spider-Man Sandbox level and tell me what you think. | 2011-01-28 03:58:00 Author: Unknown User |
Why don't you just emit another sackbot? | 2011-01-28 04:06:00 Author: Yofig Posts: 288 |
Why don't you just emit another sackbot? Had considered it but its not the response I was looking for. Wanted it to be a smooth transition from thanking you to counting down from 3-5 and then offering the next mission. As is he still wont thank you for returning after completing the missions but he does give out the 2nd and 3rd no problem so Id still consider it win, was just 4 hours I wish I had back from screwing with it all. | 2011-01-28 04:11:00 Author: Unknown User |
Why wouldn't it be a smooth transition? You'd emit it when you've completed the objective, when the sackbot is off screen. | 2011-01-28 04:16:00 Author: Yofig Posts: 288 |
