Help out a newbie

This is literally my second thread on this forum (first is my intro thread, duh) Anyways, here's the situation: I'm making a multiplayer level where two to four people drive around in little ice cars on a piece of ice, and the goal is to push other people off of the ice. I already have the cars programmed very well. However, I need to find out how to make the player disappear once they come off of the ice. I was thinking maybe some sort of danger, like horrible gas, except I would prefer that it be invisible. Help? | 2011-01-26 23:56:00 Author: Unknown User |
Have the car's destroyer (set to explode) fire when they hit a magnetic key field on a piece of hologram turned to zero brightness, and on that middle color. THey fall, and go BOOM! | 2011-01-27 01:52:00 Author: Unknown User |
Have the car's destroyer (set to explode) fire when they hit a magnetic key field on a piece of hologram turned to zero brightness, and on that middle color. THey fall, and go BOOM! Thanks for this advice! I was thinking of using a destroyer, but I didn't know exactly where to put it. Also, I don't think I'll be able to make it fall, since I have the playing field from bird's eye view. But I'll put the hologram around the ice, I guess. | 2011-01-27 02:05:00 Author: Unknown User |
didnt they(media molecule) already make this sort of level, but with the bumper cars? | 2011-01-27 02:07:00 Author: sonofbrave Posts: 107 |
didnt they(media molecule) already make this sort of level, but with the bumper cars? I don't remember one like that. Then again, I haven't played all of their levels yet. ANYWAY, I got the transparent hologram, but how do I make it so that the destroyer makes the car explode when they touch? | 2011-01-27 04:00:00 Author: Unknown User |
Just make everything on the third layer, and make hologram on the edges of the ice that makes the car go back one layer. Do that for layer 3 and 2. On layer one, make hologram with a key on it called "kill". Make the car have a collide switch that requires "kill" tag to activate. Connect that to a destroy switch. That way the car will fall and explode when it hits the bottom layer. | 2011-01-27 04:06:00 Author: Daldrez Posts: 63 |
To make the cars 'fall', you can use an in/out mover. But it's getting late, so I don't have time to explain how to use it. Sorry! | 2011-01-27 04:10:00 Author: crazymario Posts: 657 |
Ok, so what you need to do is slap a microchip on the car, and in the microchip put an inand out mover to a constant on signal and have it pull backwards, then add a destroyer hooked up to a sensor tag (turn on same layer) then in the back layer, behind your ice rink, put a matching tag to your sensor (the one hooked to the destroyer) so when you go off the side, your in out mover will pull you back to the back layer, and the tag will set off the sensor (because same layer is turned on, remember) and your car will be destroyed. Very different from my way and much simpler. I am so obsessed with holograph and tags, haha. Good job on figuring that out. | 2011-01-27 04:29:00 Author: Daldrez Posts: 63 |
Pretty much everything in LBP 2 can be done in a simpler way than whatever you think up. It is just harder to think simpler. Accomplishing multiple tasks with one tool. | 2011-01-27 04:49:00 Author: poorjack Posts: 1806 |
I tried setting the in/out mover to a constant on signal, but it doesn't work. I'll try fiddling with it a little, but in the meantime, does anyone know why it doesn't work? | 2011-01-29 01:13:00 Author: Unknown User |
I don't know, it didn't work on one of my levels too. Try making a switch activate it, and if that works use the holograph idea. | 2011-01-29 03:06:00 Author: Daldrez Posts: 63 |
