Update 7: Changed the shape of the ship and added a new enemy that spawns after reaching a score of 50,000 & 30,000 Update 6: It takes 3 hits before your ship is destroyed instead of a re-spawn system and made the ship sensitivity higher. Update 5: Ship has been made faster, controls added at the bottom of the screen. Update 4: Fixed glitch where power-ups can be picked up more than once without them disappearing. Update 3: Made a fixed zoomed out camera, added recording when power-ups are picked up. Update 2: 3 random power-ups added Update 1: Made intro skip-able thanks for suggestion. | 2011-01-26 22:09:00 Author: arsenalfan_1995 Posts: 229 |
First off, you know you can actually include like the level tag or what ever in the forum thread, look at the other threads and you'll see what I mean, secondly I'll go try it out? Will you try out my Bird Hunting level (link in signature) What you have isn't a bad start here, but a few suggestions: Make the intro at the beginning skipable, that way if people have already played it before and they just want to try and get to the actio, they can skip it and jump right in. Second: Make there be a defualt music track instead of it starting out on silence, if anyone truly wants to play a game without music, then they're probably just go into the settings for LBP and turn the music volume off. Third: Make there be a respawn system, having only one live is never fun really... Four: (Do you have any powerups or anything? I did not see any.) | 2011-01-26 22:28:00 Author: LukeCF Posts: 790 |
Ok thanks for the suggestions, good ideas. | 2011-01-26 22:39:00 Author: arsenalfan_1995 Posts: 229 |
I just play ur level! Its a nice level but need more polishing. It realy simple. I agree with the skipable intro Maybe more define ship would be great. But it a realy good start and i had a lot of fun. PS: I did the highest score | 2011-01-26 23:42:00 Author: CharleyWT Posts: 38 |

Just finished playing your level, it was alot of fun. You are a good creator, you level deserves more attention. | 2011-01-27 15:45:00 Author: Marine246810 Posts: 2 |
Thanks guys for all the feedback. Will continue to update the level with the community's suggestions. | 2011-01-28 01:24:00 Author: arsenalfan_1995 Posts: 229 |
Well I finally was able to actually play your level. I didn't know how to shoot, my husband was the one who figured it out for me. I kept pressing all the other buttons, and never expected it to be the analog stick! You might want to tell people at the begining before it starts to tell them how to shoot. I died 3 times before I was able to play. Anyways, one I got it working it was kind of fun! I also like the fact you used 80's style graphics! | 2011-01-28 03:28:00 Author: MaximovSephiroth Posts: 36 |
Just added in controls at the bottom of the screen, thanks for the feedback. | 2011-01-28 04:02:00 Author: arsenalfan_1995 Posts: 229 |
Not the very best but far above average. Some suggestions: you move a little slow, I think it would be more fun and hectic if you moved faster. The shotgun powerup was awesome though so definitely keep that. Overall, a solid level that must have taken quite a while so good job. EDIT: saw Luke above me say something about only having 1 life, that was annoying to me. I think in order to have people coming back to beat their high scores, they should have 3-4 lives so they at least feel like they're getting farther. | 2011-01-28 04:02:00 Author: Unknown User |
I will make the ship faster and see how that works out. I have been trying to make a respawn system still havent got one perfected yet, it will in an update soon enough. Thanks for the feedback | 2011-01-28 04:07:00 Author: arsenalfan_1995 Posts: 229 |
Just updated the level, made the ship faster, when leaving feedback please tell me if the ship should be faster or slower. Thanks guys | 2011-01-28 04:53:00 Author: arsenalfan_1995 Posts: 229 |
I'll try this out again and get updated thoughts back to you. (And just for your information the best twin stick shooter on LBP2 is Blast Radius by johnee [one of those creators MM ended up hiring] not on;y does it play great, but it also looks STUNNING, if you have yet to play it, I would high recommend trying it out) | 2011-01-28 05:28:00 Author: LukeCF Posts: 790 |
Ok I will try it out, I changed my thread name. I'm planing on adding a bomb that kills everything currently spawned. Every 30ish seconds your alive your Awarded a bomb. Tell me about what you think about the idea guys. | 2011-01-28 06:06:00 Author: arsenalfan_1995 Posts: 229 |
Awesome geometry wars level. I think it's great as is, but if you're going to add on to it then definitely go with extra lives. edit: also maybe boost the sfx volume and lower the music volume. Make it more distinctive like an old arcade machine. | 2011-01-28 13:33:00 Author: Unknown User |
Ok thanks for the suggestions i will lower the volume of the music, good idea never thought of that. | 2011-01-28 14:18:00 Author: arsenalfan_1995 Posts: 229 |
I liked your level. I played it 10 times +- . In my quest for high score i noticed a couple things that i think could be improved to really make this game stand out. 1. the movement of the ship is fine at it's current speed, but the speed at which the ship turns to shoot is too slow for the speed of enemy spawns. I found that i reacted way faster than the ship was capable of. 2. your enemies spawn too far into the play square. Many times i was forced near the edges by rapid spawns nearby, only to be killed because a square spawned right on my ship. That effectively makes the edges of the map a no fly zone, which is contradicted by the bright white square that tells the player...."you're safe to this point". Other than that i had a "blast"....oh god i couldn't resist... anyway i gave you a | 2011-01-28 15:22:00 Author: Unknown User |
@ Randos OK i might make them spawn a bit outside the square and then they have to fly in, that might solve the problem, i will give it a try. The ship sensitivity is an easy fix i will get right on that. Nice pun Thanks for the input, i just brought out another update and the ship takes 3 hits to destroy since people didn't like the idea of 1 hit kills you. | 2011-01-28 15:28:00 Author: arsenalfan_1995 Posts: 229 |
I actually don't mind the one hit kill, if the ship can react as fast as the player. I just tried it again, what's the deal with the pink square that keeps following me lol? It was stuck to the front of my ship, but i dunno what it was doing? I can say whatever you did, made the game a little easier. I went from 8th to 2nd in one play | 2011-01-28 15:34:00 Author: Unknown User |
I loved it <3 Only thing I can suggest is a on screen timer maybe for the invincibility? Well Done | 2011-01-28 15:46:00 Author: xForrest Posts: 72 |
Aha so what's happening is...if two of the fast blinking pink ones spawn at the same time, the one you don't hit sticks to the ship and eats all 3 lives. Maybe set it up so it destroys itself when it hits you?...Killing itself and one of your hits?... The fast one is the only one that really matters, because once it's stuck to your ship, it's inside the firing range of your weapon making it impossible to shoot it off you. All the other types of enemies are slow enough that you can get a lil distance even if you take a hit or two from them. p.s. Please don't take my suggestions as complaints, it's been really fun testing this level. The only lbp2 community level i've played more than once thus far. | 2011-01-28 15:54:00 Author: Unknown User |
Is the fact that its easier bad? i believe i fixed the square following you. But with the health update all the old score will be easily beat since you can last 3 times longer. Moved the spawns, level has been republished.! @Xforrest Timer added to count how long invincibility is on for. | 2011-01-28 15:56:00 Author: arsenalfan_1995 Posts: 229 |
I've played the crap outta this level lol. i don't think it's bad that it's a little easier...just means higher scores. The updates seem to have taken the luck out of success which makes for much more competitive fun.....Time for me to try again for top score........bbiab | 2011-01-28 16:11:00 Author: Unknown User |
@Randos Have i fixed the problem where they stick to you? i havent encountered it again yet | 2011-01-28 16:14:00 Author: arsenalfan_1995 Posts: 229 |
OOOOOh i officially hate zombiemunkee....every time i catch up he doubles my score........./rage | 2011-01-28 16:16:00 Author: Unknown User |

they seem to be just right to me........haven't seen a difference when i get the red one....what's it do? | 2011-01-28 16:31:00 Author: Unknown User |
The red is invincibility, Purple is 500 free points and blue, well i hope you noticed what blue does | 2011-01-28 16:34:00 Author: arsenalfan_1995 Posts: 229 |

this 1 was a lot of fun and challenging. I like the controls and fire-power most. The objects' shapes are simple but that isn't a negative thing as they give it an old school arcade feel. The gameplay is fun and can be addictive. I gave it a and a heart!! | 2011-01-28 23:09:00 Author: steakmo Posts: 57 |
Thanks for the feedback. Does anyone have any suggestions for future updates, more enemies? Change the look or enemies maybe add some circular enemies?!? :o | 2011-01-29 05:30:00 Author: arsenalfan_1995 Posts: 229 |
I left a short comment on the level, but ill give you full feedback here as its easier to write. I found it great fun, and surprisingly fluid to control compared to some of the other asteroid like games on LBP at the moment. I'd say its on par with the smooth gameplay of Johnee's Blast Radius to be quite honest! I liked the way the 'enemy were cubes, as it added a nice sense of multiple dimensions. The enemies themselves were great, with a nice variety of styles with good ranks of offensiveness. It would be nice to see you implement a 'level' system so you know how far you have got each time. And you could add a few more types of enemy - maybe different shapes that effect you in different ways. All in all an addictive, fun, standalone mini game! Feel free to give me feedback to if you have the time when you play my level 'Pinket Ball' | 2011-01-29 12:13:00 Author: Steve Posts: 134 |
Thanks, I will try the level idea out and see how it works. I will give you some feedback for pinketball today | 2011-01-29 14:59:00 Author: arsenalfan_1995 Posts: 229 |
Im posting this as im HORRIBLE with the music sequencer, if anyone could make some music that suits my level, i would give credit during my opening intro EDIT: just realized there is a real game called space shooter.... I guess i shoould change the name since this isnt a remake, any suggestions? | 2011-01-29 15:07:00 Author: arsenalfan_1995 Posts: 229 |
I'm probably not any good with it, haven't tried it out yet. But since I play no instruments or anything I'll assume I'm no good at it. Maybe name it like retro shooter, or arcade shooter? Since it does have that kinda vibe to it... | 2011-01-29 16:53:00 Author: LukeCF Posts: 790 |
I will go with arcade shooter for now | 2011-01-29 17:04:00 Author: arsenalfan_1995 Posts: 229 |
I really liked it, but maybe a change of song once in a while maybe as you progress the song changes | 2011-01-29 18:08:00 Author: gle-123_ Posts: 7 |
About to publish new update, Newer ship, not just a circle anymore, just polishing up a few things first, next update will probably be newer enemies, What kind of enemies would you like to see? | 2011-01-29 22:04:00 Author: arsenalfan_1995 Posts: 229 |
Loved the level thought it was great! Inspired me to make my own top down shooter. wish there was a little more music choices though. Check out my level here http://lbp.me/v/w69yfxand herehttps://lbpcentral.lbp-hub.com/index.php?t=46490-A-Trip-through-the-some-what-firey-forest&p=753366#post753366 | 2011-01-30 00:06:00 Author: DudeWTH Posts: 29 |
New update, Changed the shape of the ship, so could be a little buggy, leave feedback on any glitches ex. picked up power-up but didnt activate. Added a new shape, and ... its NOT a square! Dont believe me go check it out, The triangular enemy has been added and only appears after reaching a score of 30,000 to increase the difficulty, and another at a score of 50,000 | 2011-01-30 01:39:00 Author: arsenalfan_1995 Posts: 229 |

Thanks, playing your level now | 2011-01-30 02:18:00 Author: arsenalfan_1995 Posts: 229 |
That was a great shooter! Here is what I thought: Menu: 5/5 - One of the better menus I have seen. Simple and it works well. Would be cool to add some kind of animation on the sides just for fun. Gameplay: 4.5/5 - Nothing beats a good arcade shooter. I love the progression in difficulty, the power ups, and how the ship moves. Sound: 4/5 - I love the fact that you made a part of the menu where you can choose the music. Great job on that. I do like the sound effects that you used in the level as well. The one thing I think could be added is a sound for shooting the bad guys down. I know there is an explosion sound, but I get the "arcade" vibe when I play this level. It would be nice if you added in an arcade sound when they are destroyed. Overall, it was fantastic. from me! I look forward to what you have to say about my level. | 2011-01-30 02:59:00 Author: ShamgarBlade Posts: 1010 |
Yes i agree with, ShamgarBlade, it was very good, however, i would like to see more detail and/or the ability to change weapons? maybe? | 2011-01-30 03:32:00 Author: Unknown User |
@ Shamgar. I will add some noise for destroying an enemy and probably enhance the looks of the menu. Thanks alot for the detailed review @ Charlie. I was planning on releasing the game with more than 1 weapon but wanted to see how popular the level was first. Thanks for the feedback. Anyone have any suggestions for extra weapons? | 2011-01-30 03:43:00 Author: arsenalfan_1995 Posts: 229 |

Good idea, I will give it a try | 2011-01-30 04:16:00 Author: arsenalfan_1995 Posts: 229 |
Played it just now. Visuals are simple, but good, and the controls work very well. The menu and intro were done well too. I liked the inclusion of the voice over when one of the power ups is picked up, but it's hard to hear. Also, it was hard to tell when I was getting hit, and you might want to turn off location sound on the lazer sound effect so that it doesn't fade out when players move near the edge of the play field. Overall it was a fun little game. | 2011-01-30 05:08:00 Author: RagTagPwner Posts: 344 |
I will make the voice a bit louder... Microsoft Sam works wonders XD thanks for the feedback EDIT: did you play it after the newest update, i brought out an update a few minutes ago and the red square makes a noise on destruction as a tester to see if people thought it was a bit annoying. What did you think of it | 2011-01-30 05:15:00 Author: arsenalfan_1995 Posts: 229 |

What did you think of it I thought the sound was fine! What would really be awesome is if they had a exploding into particles animation after hit. But that might be over-complicating it a bit. | 2011-01-30 06:01:00 Author: ShamgarBlade Posts: 1010 |
Hmm good idea, i love to over-complicate things I also need to add some sort of background. EDIT: New update out, all enemies have SFX after dieing. Have a un-published patch that includes enemies breaking up into smaller particles and dissapearing after being destroyed, not going to publish just yet, because im getting a review done on my level today, but if anyone would like to try it out add me | 2011-01-30 15:52:00 Author: arsenalfan_1995 Posts: 229 |
It is addictive, if only because I'm a fan of Geometry Wars, so now I have Geometry Wars in my LBP2, lol. The playing field felt small to me, and whenever I lost a life, its usually when 4 or more guys are on me, so I would often lose lives consecutively. I'd suggest making use of the invincibility timer when you get hit. Other than that, great level! | 2011-01-30 18:02:00 Author: Lostwind Posts: 29 |
I liked this level, but I found that it got really difficult, really quickly. I'm not sure if that is just my skill or not. The visuals were... Retro, not much to say there. I liked the gameplay, especially with the power-ups, they helped me a lot. I think there should be a brief interval or shield between losing lives to make sure you don't lose all your lives at once. What would go nicely here, is if you composed a retro themed piece of music. It would add to the game, as there are very few "real" retro pieces in the music box. I enjoyed the level, and thumbed it up. I'm not sure whether I hearted it, but I think I did. | 2011-01-30 18:11:00 Author: Struanmcd Posts: 333 |
I probably will add a new patch giving about 3 seconds of invincibilty after being hit sound like a reasonable amount of time? | 2011-01-30 18:18:00 Author: arsenalfan_1995 Posts: 229 |
Played this one earlier and it's a good arcade game. VISUALS: The retro visuals looked pretty good. SOUND: Good music choices, when it comes to choosing them, and I liked it on how you added a voice when you grabbed the invincibility item. GAMEPLAY: Impressive use of the controlinator and score giver. And great use of power ups. OVERALL: A very fun game. My suggestion though is that when you become invincible, you should somehow change the color of the ship by tweaking the neon material and adjust the color when it's off. I gave this level a 'yeah', and I think I posted a positive feedback. F4F: "Tit, Roll, and Drop". | 2011-01-30 19:27:00 Author: JustinArt Posts: 1314 |
Good idea with the colour change, i will add that in in maybe an hour or so, because im getting my level reviewed soon i believe and dont wanna mess anything up XD i will F4F your level | 2011-01-30 19:43:00 Author: arsenalfan_1995 Posts: 229 |
Haha, funnily enough I've already played this. I noticed it because we were both spamming re-publish. It's a good level, won't deny it that, but I think it needs a little fine tuning as far as the speed of the asteroids. After a minute or so it gets to a point where it's only luck keeping you alive and you want it to go on a bit longer than that. | 2011-01-30 19:49:00 Author: JonnysToyRobot Posts: 324 |
Thanks for the feedback Update: Custom music has been added, made by brucethejam. EDIT: Updated level, ship flashes between colours while invincible | 2011-01-31 15:15:00 Author: arsenalfan_1995 Posts: 229 |
Really fun twin stick shooter, and i love the shotgun/burst shot power up. if i wer to suggest one thing tho it'l be to enlarge the battle area a little as i kept bashing into the walls trying to dodge some enemy squares (tho that could just be me :b ). | 2011-01-31 15:43:00 Author: Unknown User |
I cant make it any bigger now because the camera is zoomed out as far as it will go Thanks for the feedback | 2011-01-31 15:45:00 Author: arsenalfan_1995 Posts: 229 |

Hey man great shooter level. I liked the power ups, they were easy to spot. Things got hectic in there but I always felt in control. Definitely one of the best twin sticks I have played. | 2011-02-01 07:57:00 Author: Pojo_King1987 Posts: 32 |
Thanks for the feedback. | 2011-02-01 22:38:00 Author: arsenalfan_1995 Posts: 229 |
Nice shooter. It looks good and the controls are nice and smooth. If I have a complaint, it's that the invincibility timer can be a little hard to see sometimes. The glow from the holograms hides it a bit. Otherwise, I don't have any problems with it. | 2011-02-01 22:59:00 Author: Nucleotyde Posts: 27 |
thats why I made the ship alternate colours every .5 seconds while your invincible. | 2011-02-01 23:05:00 Author: arsenalfan_1995 Posts: 229 |
thats why I made the ship alternate colours every .5 seconds while your invincible. Okay, it should be fine then. The flashing definitely was noticeable. | 2011-02-01 23:07:00 Author: Nucleotyde Posts: 27 |

I'll try this out again and get updated thoughts back to you. (And just for your information the best twin stick shooter on LBP2 is Blast Radius by johnee [one of those creators MM ended up hiring] not on;y does it play great, but it also looks STUNNING, if you have yet to play it, I would high recommend trying it out) QFT - Blast Radius rocks. Back on topic, this level was great fun - I'm very much into this kinda thing. I agree with what others have said about adding in 'lives' - easily done with a 'counter'. Add in a buzzer when you take a hit, job done. Will re-play it soon, hope you'll keep working on it | 2011-02-05 18:21:00 Author: Bovrillor Posts: 309 |

Not my favorite level, but still very nice. I liked the way you made it possible to see the high score board at the beginning, very nice. I wish the enemies had been a bit more varied in appearance, and had been a bit more complicated than simple geometric shapes. The player's ship was good though. There could have been a bit more variation in enemy types too: enemies that shot at you, for example, would have been nice. Also, I have no idea what the stars do, is there any motivation to grab them beside points? I did like the controls a lot: standard, but they worked very well. Please give me some feedback on the level in my sig! | 2011-02-06 02:57:00 Author: Unknown User |
Didn't really like this. I think the ship's way too big. (back when I played it) Also, can you be more arrogant? | 2011-02-07 18:28:00 Author: Voganlight Posts: 60 |
@ Bill_255 Im planning on completely remaking the level wit different enemies and lives. Thanks for the feedback, i will try your level next time i ply lbp2 and yes, there are 3 different stars, blue is shotgun like bullets, red is invincibility and purple is 500 points @ Vogan Could i be more arrogant?..... Could you be more ignorant? I have updated this level countless times since you played it. | 2011-02-07 19:58:00 Author: arsenalfan_1995 Posts: 229 |

Good help. | 2011-02-12 18:20:00 Author: arsenalfan_1995 Posts: 229 |
Hi arsenalfan, thought id drop by and give you some feedback on the changes since i last played it. I like the variety of enemies this time round, but it still think that they should be different sizes, would look better and also you could make them take more damage. I also think that the increase in speed of the enemies appearing should be slower to start with, as it just shoots right up the scale within 30 seconds. The menu needs some kind of back button i think, because several times i tried to change the music and found i had to blind select the option i wanted because i couldnt get off the music screen. Could be a good idea to add more types of bonus objects, like a protective shield or upgraded ammo. I felt as though i didnt have enough firepower to cope with the onslaught of enemies. Still as addictive as ever though! Id appreciate it if you could take another look at Pinket Ball, as i have made a tonne of changes since you played the first version, and am interested to see if you have any other improvements i could make! | 2011-02-13 12:27:00 Author: Steve Posts: 134 |
Ok, thanks for the feedback, i plan on completely re-doing my level from scratch, because i built it so unorganized i cant really change much, i will try pinketball next time i play, havent been on much EDIT: What would you guys like to see? Multiple different levels if you stay alive long enough? health or lives? Maybe Multiplayer? Leave any suggestions you think could improve this level. Would a tutorial be useful? | 2011-02-25 21:13:00 Author: arsenalfan_1995 Posts: 229 |
looks pretty generic from the screenshots, and theres allot of twin stick shootemups already, but that dudnt mean it has to be bad. | 2011-02-27 13:54:00 Author: ptwob Posts: 99 |
New Update: Removed some minor Bugs | 2011-06-30 03:49:00 Author: arsenalfan_1995 Posts: 229 |
I played this as well as cosmic carnage earlier in the morning before. Overall i thought the gameplay was alright though i thought it was weird that i could fire in any direction without the ship turning to face where i was aiming but not really a big deal. The weapon upgrades were okay as well but i thought the enemies were a little easy to kill. Different level desighns or just interesting backgrounds might make this stand out more from other levels like it. More weapon upgrades wont hurt either. One idea you may like would be to have a multiplayer option were each player had their own playing area so that they cant see what the other is doing to make it feel different than having all players on the same screen in the same area. Or maybe make a split screen type thing. I don't remember anything else that needed mentioning so thats all i think. | 2011-07-06 12:40:00 Author: Lordwarblade Posts: 761 |
