Joystick rotator bug
Archive: 8 posts
Hi, it's been a long time since i came here (LBP1) but anyway, i'm having trouble finding out this problem. I'm making a twinstick shooter like Blast Radius for example. My ship and evrything works ok except for one thing, my shooting I've got on the microship of the ship: LJ - an advanced mover (speed) ( to make the ship move , works perfectly) RJ - the joystick rotator (speed) ( works perfectly as well , points wherever i want to shoot ) RJ - emitter (on/off) ==> (BUG!) the emitter shoots most of the time but sometimes it just won't . I've actually seen this bug in other shotters ( one of the frst versus ones). Is there any way to fix this? The blast radius shooting works Perfectly. if i don't tilt the controller the shooting stops etc. Please help me, i really can't find this solution. I hope i made myself clear.. i've put a lote of effort on my level and this is the one thing i cannot fix.. Thank you! | 2011-01-26 21:43:00 Author: Stinkin Mushroom Posts: 117 |
Oh man, just saw there's a help forum can anyone move this? thanks and srry | 2011-01-26 21:45:00 Author: Stinkin Mushroom Posts: 117 |
if i don't tilt the controller the shooting stops etc. First thing I'd check is that you've got the emitter hooked to the right part of the controler. This makes me think you've got it tied into the sixaxis option (middle of the controler when looking at it on the dcs board) (moved to help forum too ) | 2011-01-26 21:46:00 Author: Morgana25 Posts: 5983 |
Yeah try morganas solution, also on the emmiter choose ignore parent velocity, this can fix emmiters a lot of the time, plus it gives the levels that retro feeling so its a win win situation | 2011-01-26 21:57:00 Author: robotiod Posts: 2662 |
The issue with the analogue signals from the control sticks is that they do not output the full "on signal" until you have pushed the stick all the way in one direciton. it's easy to see if you hook the stick up to a light bulp not using the dimmer option. The bulp will not turn on if you just move the stick half way up/down/left/right. To remedy this, you can attach the analogue stick to a Sequencer set to positional, and place a Battery spanning the entire length of the Sequencer. Now attach the output from the Battery to the emitter. This way the Battery will turn on as soon as you are feathering the stick, and the Emitter will start shooting for you. Hope this helps | 2011-01-26 22:07:00 Author: Slaeden-Bob Posts: 605 |
wow so much help so fast , that's cool. thanks a lot. I didn't connect it to the sixaxis though. so i'm gonna try the other solutions you guys gave me. thanks! | 2011-01-26 22:12:00 Author: Stinkin Mushroom Posts: 117 |
The sticks turn on at 75% (and back off again at 25%), so generally in terms of a twin stick shooter you will have the stick pushed all the way, which means that it's impossible to have both vertical and horizontal signals off if you have the stick fully pushed to the edge, regardless of direction. Have you connected both horizontal and vertical to the emitter via an OR gate, because you are going to need to do that even if you do use the sequencer method, as there is a 12% deadzone on the sticks and if you only use one axis, then you will hit the deadzone if going approximately perpendicular to the deadzone. | 2011-01-26 22:23:00 Author: rtm223 Posts: 6497 |

YES that was it, the or gate... i just connected the up/down and left/right directly to the emitter. Thank you! | 2011-01-26 23:29:00 Author: Stinkin Mushroom Posts: 117 |
