MM needs to inform us more

Archive: 11 posts

I saw a warning from MM that someone posted in a thread about NOT using glitched items like the POD that people managed to bring over from the beta. They stated that it could be very bad if those bugged items got into the retail version.

Of course, it's too late, people are going into those levels and getting the glitched items by the hundreds and thousands.

Here is my issue. MM has a direct link to their customers through the "News" section in the game. Why not warn people?

I couldn't find the thread where the person quoted MM, and I couldn't even find the warning on their official website - instead, I found a warning about people impersonating them to get people's passwords - again, "WHY ISN'T THIS IN THE NEWS SECTION"??? I wanted to pass on their warning on another site - but I can't find it.

Another issue is the Loading and the Glitch of having the Earth in your Pod. People are on the official LBP site and asking about the glitch - MM didn't respond, other people in the community did - MM should, again, put this the news - to let people know they are aware of it, and what the fix is. People shouldn't have to scour the internet to find fixes.

Obviously, I love the game, but overall throughout the years I've been very disappointed with the way MM deals with glitches - they often remain completely silent on an issue - or, you have to search high and low to find out they are working on it. Most times, people just want to know that, "they are aware and working on it".

I hope they start communicating more with their customers via the "News" section and keeping us informed of the "good" news as well as informing/warning us of the "bad" too.

Ok, rant done.

How do you know it was brought over from the beta.

Cause the quote that I saw from MM (which I can't find anymore) stated it was - and asked people to report it - and their are people on this site stating they brought stuff over from the beta - including glitched items, like the POD that they are giving away in levels in LBP2 (along with other items).

There is a thread on this site from some guy saying he got the glitched items from Stephanie Ravens, and he says she got it from the beta somehow. I'm sure she isn't the only one that managed to do it.

MM Stated that it could cause serious issues cause those items had "bugs". Of course, the cat is out of the bag now and the level is on the Cool Pages with tons of people getting a potentially unsafe item.

I'm not sure you got that I insinuated that they were "lazy".

I understand the "News" section is not a blog - it is a source of information and a direct line to their community - not sure why they can't post warnings their as well.

Also, I never expected them to repond to every single message when a glitch is reported - all they have to do is list the current glitch and any known associated fixes and sticky it to their website.

Right now, all I'm asking for is for them to be more communicative with us when it comes to glitches. They obviously made a statement about the dangers of downloading these glitched items - but I can't for the life of me find it to help spread the word. I'm asking them to help me help them. There is nothing rude or sinister about that.

Oh, I should have made it clearer, that's little to do with what you said, no hard feelings with or toward you. Reading it back I can see how you took it that way though. Sorry about the way I typed that up mid drink.
In fact, I do agree with you that it should be on the News section, so not even sure anymore why I typed all that up.. can't figure out a way to edit it right at the moment either..

I agree that it must not be easy to update the news section, but that shouldn't keep them from doing it. We had survival challenges up on the news for how long?2011-01-26 21:00:00

Wrong they were most likely copied. I'm so confident in that, find the giveaway glitched items and you will see the original creators name in it.

I don't see what Mm could say in the news section anyway?

Mm won't post about dangerous glitches in the news because it'll only draw more attention to it.2011-01-26 21:29:00

Well, if that was/is their strategy, it would be a poor one.

Telling me there is a road hazard ahead doesn't make me speed up towards it, I tend to make sure I avoid it. Perhaps that's just me though.

Well, I am only going by what MM stated. They said it was dangerous and to avoid it and report it. Doesn't sound like they're as confident as you that it isn't a problem. (The level even warns that they recommend you back up your profile before downloading).

My point is, if it's a serious concern, they should do a better job of communicating that to us. On their website, there is a sticky about people posing as them to get passwords - seems like an easy thing to do to update the News area reminding people that MM will never ask for their passwords (not everyone checks their website daily). But at least that is something.

I don't think I'm being rude or unreasonable asking MM to communicate more with us on their game. We have to deal with a lot of glitches, and most of us think the game is so great that it is worth putting up with (even level destroying glitches that many of us have encountered and lost hours, days and weeks worth of work on) - so, asking for them to occasionnaly throw us an info bone doesn't seem like asking for too much. At least, I don't think it is.

Mm should be "less talk, more action"

Do you want patches that fix glitches, or a 5 paragraph essay talking about the glitch?

Well I'm pretty sure he's just asking for a couple of sentences to inform people. I don't think that takes that long O.o
