Can grab sensors be permanent switches?

Archive: 12 posts

Hello there,

I'm Rae and I'm new to the community and new to creator mode (so go easy on me!)

I have a grab sensor attached to some sponge which triggers some dissolve material. What I'd also like to do is have movement occur permanently (or at least until another switch is pulled) once the sponge is grabbed and wonder if there is any way of doing this or is the inherent nature of the grab sensor that it needs to be grabbed?

Many thanks in advance guys,
Rae

PS I looked through Incinerator22's Logic Workshop but got really confused (But that's not a negative comment on the thread, just me overloading my brain

Connect the grab sensor's output to a toggle switch, then the toggle switch's output to whatever you want to turn on.
(You can find the toggle switch in advanced logic)

Edit: I only suggested he use a toggle switch because he said "What I'd also like to do is have movement occur permanently (or at least until another switch pulled)"
I wasn't sure if he wanted a permanent switch or not, so yes, if he did, a counter set to 1 would be the most effective method.

That is the nature of the grab switch indeed, but you can use a permanent switch to solve this. Counters act as permanent switches in LBP2 (not toggles). Place a counter, tweak it to count to 1, connect the grab switch to the counter's input, and connect the counter's output to whatever you want. The count will count the number of times you grab the grabswitch, and once it reaches its maximum, which is 1, it will switch on whatever you connect.

You can later reset the counter with its bottom input, if so desired.

Ok, is there now a way to switch that movement off again with a different switch?2011-01-26 12:05:00

if you use the counter method, you wire into the reset to turn it off, which will give you what is commonly known as a Set-Reset switch (or "flip-flop" or "latch" names inherited from electronics).

You can do the same if using a 2-input select switch, just wire your reset into the other input

If you have two switches and want each switch to turn it on/off when grabbed, you can place a grab sensor connected to a toggle switch connected to the item your turning on/off.

Edit: If you want it to be able to turned on with one switch and off with another switch, use rtm's method.

I'm trying to use this method but I can only select increments of 10.....

Try the other analogue stick, or the D Pad.

It's amazing how easy that is with a controller in my hand.. Can't for the life of me remember what the commands are when away from my PS3

D-pad is the larger increments (1 or 10), left analog stick is smaller increments (.1 or 1)2011-01-26 12:26:00
