Top Down Controllinator Frustration

Archive: 5 posts

Is there any way to keep a remotely controlled object straight so when it hits a wall it doesn't rotate? When the object rotates, it completely screws up the controllinator's controls which suddenly become wacky or reversed. I need the object to remain straight at all times when it's being moved around so if it hits a wall, it doesn't react and rotate itself. I tried a gyroscope but that doesn't help in this situation. I'm working with zero gravity, but that doesn't seem to be the cause of this problem. Thank you!2011-01-26 08:10:00

I'm pretty sure you can get past this problem with a Gyroscope, make sure it's pointing the correct side and tweak its Acceleration to 100%. If it doesn't work, try putting a Rocket (name?) Rotator, which makes the object rotate the direction is travelling . Hope this helps!2011-01-26 13:12:00

How are you controlling direction? rotating against a wall shouldn't make controls go 'screwy'. I had that trouble in the Beta but it turns out I had wired the Joystick rotator wrong because the video tute actually shows the wrong socket for Up/Down input. You could use a material tweaker on you object and set friction to zero, so it should slide over every surface without getting any rotation forces. If need add a full strength gyro pointing up.2011-01-26 14:43:00

could just add a normal rotater to 0 with full acceleration and deceleration2011-01-30 07:21:00

If your movers/rotators are set to "Local Space" their movements will change depending on how the object rotates. It may help to check that Local Space is off on everything in your controlinator.2011-01-30 13:28:00
