How to kill a player without them running into a harmful object

Archive: 11 posts

I recently put together a way of killing off a player without them having to actually run into anything hazardous. You can use this method to kill them with electricity, fire, plasma, spikes, explosions, or horrible gas (thereby getting pretty much whichever death animation you want). You can set it up so that it works either on touch or by remote control. At the moment it's only set up to work with a single player, but I believe it could probably be done with 4 players if you use sackbots.

My level is here:

Essentially I set up a small, roughly player-sized hologram that follows the player at maximum speed. On the hologram I have a microchip that has a set of six emitters, one for each type of damage, each connected to an OR gate and two sensors, one that senses remote activation, and another that senses collision with a specially-named tag. The spikes emitter is the coolest, but unfortunately it also needs the most adjustment at the moment. If I can get ahold of some glitched invisible spikes it might work better.

Anyway, if you have comments, questions, or ideas, I'd love to hear them.

Oooh, automation of killing people... Sounds like a new weapon. :kz:

What about the emitting? Spikes sounds like the hardest to get to work. Does it have to be tiny in order for 100% Successful kills?

Also, is there a special follow button on it, which allows me to type in names of people I want it to follow? :kz:

Awesome, but how will this be applied?
Player Health Bars?

I'm just wondering why you have to emit the dangers when you can lethalize the hologram and it will have the same effect?2011-01-27 16:04:00

Because, then the hologram would be visible and therefore not have the same effect.
Please correct me if I'm wrong but I thought this idea was a way to invisibly kill players.

I would guess it's both this and this:

I copied this to my planet and tried to open it, however you're using stuff from a pack I don't have. Please generalize the level so that anyone can access it.2011-01-29 21:28:00

I think electric and plasmafied hologram are invisible, but gaseous and flammable hologram are not, when set to 0% brightness.2011-01-30 00:17:00

you could make a health bar for a sackbot and set it so that when the meter runs out the sackbot is destroyed.

If you're looking for different ways to kill your sackthing, try smushing them, layer-shifting them of the edge of the world, saws, knifes, spikes, explosives, lethalized objects, projectiles (cute bunnies with chain guns: my personal favorite).
