Helicopter aesthetic nonsense.
Archive: 7 posts
So, I'm making this Tilt rotor helicopter thing and a few aesthetics are still bothering me. 1. How would you make the helicopter gently bob up and down when not moving? Because real helicopters don't stay perfectly still when idle. 2. How would one make a helicopter lean toward the direction it was going in? Thanks for any feedback or Ideas you may have. | 2011-01-25 06:42:00 Author: agrx Posts: 192 |
1. I'd hook a mover that goes straight up to a timer and a toggle, so that it goes up for a bit, turns off, falls, then turns on and goes up again. 2. Use gyroscopes pointed to the amount you want it to lean, then activate them with the analog stick movements. | 2011-01-25 06:43:00 Author: Yofig Posts: 288 |

And how do you do that nonsense with the gyroscopes? | 2011-01-25 06:45:00 Author: agrx Posts: 192 |
Yeah but I already have an anti gravity switch on it. And how do you do that nonsense with the gyroscopes? I'm not sure then, about the bobbing, because it's hard to get realistic results with two movers. -------- Gyroscopes always try to point up, up being wherever the arrow on top of the gyroscope is. So, simply tilt two gyroscopes a bit to each side, and hook them up to the analog stick with a direction splitter. If you have the Avalonian RoboBun, it uses this for its tilting. | 2011-01-25 06:50:00 Author: Yofig Posts: 288 |
Unless it somehow breaks the rest of the helicopter, why not use a mover for the up-bob and toggle to a slightly higher gravity for the down portion? | 2011-02-02 00:24:00 Author: Unknown User |
In the basis of all of this movement you want to place a Selector to have control over what happens in which state the helo is in. For example: 1. shutting down on the ground 2. complete inactive, sitting on the ground (default state of this Selector) 3. starting up from the ground 4. ascending 5. default flying state: bobbing up and down a bit, hovering in the air 6. moving forwards, slightly tilted forward 7. moving backwards, slightly tilted back 8. descending 9. crashing? I would wire up all of the outputs from this Selector to separate Microchips (wiring the MC itself will turn its entire content ON/OFF) in which you place the logic corresponding with (and dedicated to) each state. Do not place weapons or damage logic in there; keep those separate! Only dedicate them to the state of the helo. The activation of each Selector state is a different topic, but at least you won't have to mess around so much with AND and OR gates. State 5, the default flying state could have an upward-pointing Gyroscope and a two-step looping Sequencer in it; on its canvas two simple Movers, one for up, one for down, both set to Local Space and 50% increase/decrease. Tweak the playback speed of the Sequencer and the settings of the Movers to your likings. | 2011-02-02 10:18:00 Author: Antikris Posts: 1340 |
2. This thread has a good method for analouge tilt control https://lbpcentral.lbp-hub.com/index.php?t=46841-airplane-analouge-tilt-control | 2011-02-02 11:11:00 Author: LaserApa Posts: 11 |
