Problem with taking pictures in create mode for customizing
Archive: 16 posts
I'm a prideful custom costume creator, so I'am really upset that you can't take clear, flat, bright images in create mode anymore. Anybody else mad about this? I'm hoping this can be fixed somehow, because right now I have to load up my LBP1 disc just to make a quality custom sticker. | 2011-01-25 04:31:00 Author: Unknown User |
I make costumes myself. I haven't had a problem making stickers. If you set the game to "front view" from the start menu it makes everything look nicer (not sure if you've already tried this). The only thing I'm a little peeved about is the camera. To me it doesn't seem to zoom in enough anymore. This is crucial for me because unfortunately I'm playing on a tiny TV. | 2011-01-25 05:41:00 Author: Ninja_Gnome23 Posts: 198 |
Front View was the method for doing so. In LBP2 though, the edges are visible and cast tiny shadows that destroy the picture. Also the pictures themselves are about 6 times darker than the image source. Actually the one thing I'm happy about is the movie camera, which allows you to get really close up with the right settings. | 2011-01-25 06:42:00 Author: Unknown User |
I don't know what's up with your camera tool, my images are too light if I'm not careful, and front view rarely casts shadows for me. | 2011-01-25 06:45:00 Author: Yofig Posts: 288 |
I don't know what's up with your camera tool, my images are too light if I'm not careful, and front view rarely casts shadows for me. Same. I haven't had any problems. The shadows are cast based on how far away your camera viewer is from the image you're trying to capture. If you're trying to take a picture of something HUGE and are way zoomed out, try making your object smaller to take a smaller picture, that should eliminate the shadow. Also moving farther away from the beginning of the level and messing with the lighting could also help. And as far as the movie camera goes, I tried that. Didn't really help since Sackboy wouldn't stop his incessant bouncing! | 2011-01-25 07:43:00 Author: Ninja_Gnome23 Posts: 198 |
Thanks Ninja, I'll give it a try. But other friends of mine are aware and having the exact same issue as I'am, so I know its not just an isolated issue. If you'll notice when you zoom in and out with R3 the brighter light will evade whatever object you're focused on and always stay out of the center. I took the same photo I already had taken in LBP, retook it in LBP2 and thats how I knew at first things had been altered for whatever reason. Also taking pictures of smaller things usually reduces the quality of any given picture, so thats not to be desired much. | 2011-01-25 09:07:00 Author: Unknown User |
Have you tried turning your objects to glass? My material of choice is cardboard (I just like the way the stickers look), but if you turn, say a flat object, to glass (after placing the stickers) the glass retains the color (obviously), but also enhances the brightness. This helps to maintain the original color (for the most part). I'll have to play around with taking photos tomorrow and see if I notice anything askew. I'll try to see what you mean about the light avoiding the objects. I've still got to figure out some way to get the camera closer to Sackboy when placing stickers... | 2011-01-25 09:21:00 Author: Ninja_Gnome23 Posts: 198 |
I tried that in LBP, but noticed it added the texture of the glass, maybe now with the new smooth glass, but I believe its just going wash out the colors. Will try it tomorrow though. About your camera thing. I set up a movie cam to a sensor switch, played around with it for awhile and got it really close. Just give it a try. | 2011-01-25 09:26:00 Author: Unknown User |
The 'old glass' from the Pirates Of The Caribbean DLC is perfect for taking stickers on, though smooth glass might work as well, haven't tried that one yet. The other glass does kind of ruin it, yes. I was messing with the camera, and it did zoom in and it was great! But like I said....that bouncing! I don't know if it was just a little hiccup in the game, or if I didn't wait long enough, but he just kept on going. I guess I'll have to play around, huh? | 2011-01-25 09:36:00 Author: Ninja_Gnome23 Posts: 198 |
I just did some experimenting. The 'old glass' is definitely the best choice. The smooth glass is terrible. And you're absolutely right. The pictures are coming out much darker. I had a photo that I took in LBP 1 and basically recreated it in LBP 2 and when I compared the two, the new one was about 3-4 shades darker. However, if you have the old glass, I really recommend using it, it makes a world of difference. | 2011-01-25 23:36:00 Author: Ninja_Gnome23 Posts: 198 |
hey, yeah I know right! i'll try the old glass, I was trying to make a superhero who wears red today and it turned my red into a pasty ugly pinkish thingy with smooth glass. *sigh*... Like I said, theres always LBP1, but then have fun trying to make a sticker for all the new and upcoming costume pieces in the future. | 2011-01-26 01:22:00 Author: Unknown User |
Honestly I don't know what this "bouncy" thing is you're talking about either!?!? Doesn't happen to me, have to see it myself. | 2011-01-26 01:26:00 Author: Unknown User |
Bouncing is the best way I can describe it. Zoom in on Sackboy just by pulling up the costumes menu then exit your pop it, but don't move. You'll notice this little....bobbing thing he does. When you try to place a sticker on him, he'll stop moving. But when I was using the movie camera to zoom in farther, he wouldn't stop bobbing (I guess that's a better word than boucning...) up and down, therefore rendering it nearly impossible (or extremely frustrating) to place stickers. | 2011-01-26 01:30:00 Author: Ninja_Gnome23 Posts: 198 |
Thy Rubber, Really dark "Neon" material (Brightness to 0 Ironically.) or Blue wood, they're the best to place pics on. Also, If yer making this for costume galleries...why nut just make a sackbot costume gallery? SHould prove better for it. | 2011-01-26 01:34:00 Author: Silverleon Posts: 6707 |
EUREKA!! I figured it out, simply change the color correction and fog settings. fog correction = move slider over one to the right color correction = move slider over 5 increments It looks so perfect now I can barely tell the original source color from the picture I take. Thanks me! :-) | 2011-01-26 02:05:00 Author: Unknown User |
Nicely done! I'll have to try that next time I'm making stickers. | 2011-01-26 04:05:00 Author: Ninja_Gnome23 Posts: 198 |
