The Mechman Saga

This is one of my better levels. It's the story of a man who's turned into a machine by forces unknown. It's your duty to get him, the White Crate which holds his humanity inside of it, and you, to the Reboot Core. At the moment, this is only the introduction cutscene, plus the first room. I will add more as time goes on, but if you can give feedback on whats been done, that'd be awesome enjoy! http://lbp.me/v/wyt13x | 2011-01-25 03:52:00 Author: XFennoX Posts: 82 |
Nice work so far. The first thing I noticed was a problem I had recently, and that's that the cameras hold for too long. I know you need to keep it lingering a little so the player can read but I think the first few held for way too long. How about recording some voice overs? That way you know exactly when to stop holding the camera angle. Also you should make the modules invisible, it's not very pleasing to the eye to see sensors and things like that. I'm not sure about the controls for the character, something felt off and I think they need tweaked a little but overall you're on the right track here and hopefully you keep adding to it | 2011-01-30 13:45:00 Author: NoddingPenguin Posts: 71 |

Not too sure how I can fix the controls, what exactly didn't feel right about the controls? Thanks heaps for your review, I'll post on your level as soon as I get the time | 2011-01-30 21:17:00 Author: XFennoX Posts: 82 |
I agree with Penguin, the cameras did drag on a little bit. Other than that though i thought it was a great, albeit very short introduction. I can see it turning into a nice full blown top down RPG. The controls were great, and i didn't have any problems with navigation or getting stuck. I like the idea of having a flashlight and being able to stick to things, which could have a lot of scope for the full game (i'm sure you are planning to expand their uses.) I know this only the introduction, but i'm sure the full game will have loads of cool stuff in it. I'd love to give you a more in depth review but i don't think theres much else to be said at this stage! | 2011-01-30 21:20:00 Author: Steve Posts: 134 |
Hey, returning the feedback you gave me. This is a nice start to the series. It does move a little slow in the beginning cutscene and also there's a "Tag" visible at the beginning. I like the top-down idea and would play the next ones when you publish them. | 2011-01-30 23:45:00 Author: brnxblze Posts: 1318 |

Indeed I will, Steve, and thanks for the review! It is somewhat short but, at this moment, I am creating new puzzles to solve and deviously fiendish enemies to engage, many of which will require you to adhere to a hazardous projectile and fling it in their general direction, while some can be distracted by throwing the crate past them, then hitting them in their exposed weak points. Also, I'll add more soundtrack, plus insert a voicereel for the main character. I'm glad you enjoyed it and I assure you that it will grow into something beautiful...or brutally ugly, whatever your take on the matter | 2011-01-31 05:12:00 Author: XFennoX Posts: 82 |
