Announcing the...

http://i.imgur.com/sDxtS.png (http://wiki.lbpcentral.com/LBPWiki_Main)

The brand new, definitive LittleBigPlanet Wiki (http://wiki.lbpcentral.com/LBPWiki_Main) is now live!

This much needed Wiki has been a long time coming, and with a little help from the community, the team at Media Molecule, and eventually you as well, we're now delighted to open it up to the LittleBigPlanet Community, ready to welcome your contributions.

This Wiki, much like LittleBigPlanet itself, is community-driven and will continue to expand and evolve thanks to the contributions of none other than yourselves, the LittleBigPlanet community.

We've been working hard on setting up the basic style and framework and getting started on oh so many great articles, however it's now down to you guys to help us fill in the gaps!

So what are you waiting for? It's time to dive in!

Here's some important links to help you get started...

Main Page (http://wiki.lbpcentral.com/LBPWiki_Main) | Help (http://wiki.lbpcentral.com/Help:Help) | Community Portal (http://wiki.lbpcentral.com/LBPWiki:Community_Portal) | Contact us (http://wiki.lbpcentral.com/LBPWiki:Contact_Us)

If you have any questions or wish to discuss anything Wiki-related, then feel free to contact either myself (http://wiki.lbpcentral.com/User:StevenI) or one of the other Wiki Staff Members (http://wiki.lbpcentral.com/LBPWiki:Contact_Us) and we'll do our best to help you.

Other than that, I hope that you all enjoy the brand new LittleBigPlanet Wiki and over time help build the Wiki into the number one source for all LittleBigPlanet information and education.

Finally myself and the rest of the Wiki team would like to send a big thank you to everyone who has helped put this project together.

Holguin86 (http://wiki.lbpcentral.com/User:Holguin86) and RoharDragontamer (http://wiki.lbpcentral.com/User:RoharDragontamer), my fellow Wiki Curators. This project would have been nothing without your hard work, direction and countless hours put into the Wiki.

Spaff and Tom, the Media Molecule (http://www.mediamolecule.com/) Community Team. Big thank you for your support throughout helping us to build the Wiki, all done whilst working hard on LittleBigPlanet 2 itself.

ConfusedCartman, Aya042 and the team at LittleBigPlanetCentral (http://www.lbpcentral.com/). Without LittleBigPlanetCentral stepping in and offering to host the Wiki itself, we would have no place to even build this wonderful LittleBigPlanet encyclopedia.

The rest of the Wiki Moderation (http://wiki.lbpcentral.com/LBPWiki:Wiki_Moderators) team, their support and contributions to the Wiki during these early stages were vital and as such, they're now members of the Wiki Team in their own right.

Woot! Yay, after five months, everyone finally gets access to the wiki.

So yep. For those of you who remember me blathering on about a wiki... this is why I haven't said anything of the sort since August. Lol.

But yeah, this is pretty much the closest thing we'll get to an official LBP wiki... apparently Sony wouldn't let MM or something, so MM turned to us. Yay. So this is some sort of quasi official wiki, not really the LBPC wiki- hence it being LBP Wiki and StevenI being the maintainer (as this wiki really only exists cause MM wanted it to) so yep.

Anywho, finally. Now I don't have to be... quasi... secretive... eh not really asecretive.

Oh yeah, and somehow I'm a wiki moderator. MOD POWAH /cough

anywho, have fun... some of you know how long I've been clamoring for a wiki ._>

However, each person's user page is fair game. So if you want to make pages of your stuff, it'd need to be under your profile.

Speaking of which, Rohar made a nice profile thing here:

http://wiki.lbpcentral.com/Templaterofile_box

Copy the oce and edit your profile with it in order to get a cool text box on your profile. Tis cool :kz:

Problems are fixed! Sorry about that, heh.

While I'm here, I just want to say a few things about the wiki. What it is, what it isn't, and what it means for us:

The LittleBigPlanet Wiki was (and still is) a collaboration between the LittleBigPlanet community and Media Molecule themselves. Media Molecule wanted a really deep archive of knowledge for LittleBigPlanet, and we knew with our large community this was something we could facilitate.

The Wiki is by no means complete - it's got a lot of knowledge, but it's also missing a ton of stuff. LittleBigPlanet is a topic of such breadth, there's no way we could have covered everything. Some things are going to be half-done, or a quarter-done, or missing completely - that's where you come in. We're really hoping people dig in and share their knowledge so we can expand this thing to immense proportions.

We've got an awesome staff of people working on the wiki, completely separate from LBPCentral's staff. As such, the wiki is only very loosely associated with LBPCentral. An LBPCentral account is required to make edits, so we share control over moderation and discipline, but other than that, the wiki has its own identity, with its own set of rules. Once you choose to edit a page on the Wiki, you agree to the various rules and policies set forth by its staff, so be aware of them before diving in.

Finally, the current logo is a placeholder. Rumor has it, a currently-anonymous, awesome individual is willing to provide the wiki with its own unique logo, but until then it's going to continue to use what it has now. In the end, a Wiki is about content anyway - we'll worry about how it looks after it serves its purpose.

Hope you guys enjoy!

Trying to make a Beta Vest page. Never edited a Wiki page before.
My friends are as useful as dead, radioactive dogs.

EDIT: How do you get an image in that box thingy?
Might have to publish the page, then let someone add the image. If I do so, should I leave the image on the page somewhere random?
EDIT II: Astrosimi did it for me. Thanks Astro!

Upload you image here with User_ prefix (thats a rule of wiki for personal images):

http://wiki.lbpcentral.com/Special:Upload

And type name of a file to "image" field

If you add the {{infobox item}} to your article and an image doesn't appear it's because the image isn't uploaded or the name of the file isn't exactly the same as the article name. You can go to Template:Infobox item to get details on the syntax.2011-01-25 03:02:00

I'm glad you like it. We've been busting hump for the past 3-4 weeks getting it ready "for prime time". And in the middle of it all MediaMolecule had the audacity to release a new game. *sheesh*

Worth mentioning at this time that before then, the vast majority of the content was built on a regularly updating beta and via any information that Spaff and Tom were able to pass onto us.

It's certainly one heck of a distracting game though...

I found something. Under LBP1 updates;

General fixes, polishing and improvements.
Fixed ?Wheel of death? bug where Sackboy could get stuck endlessly respawning out of a checkpoint.
Fixed stretch Sackboy arms.
General server improvements and optimisation.
Fixed lights so they don't forget their colour.
If anything I can say this cab is rare.
Improved Online multiplayer level selection.
And I yelled to the cabbie ?Yo homes smell ya later?
I looked at my kingdom, was finally there, To sit on my throne as the Prince of Bel Air?
Fixed material properties glitch.

Also, for who don't know, I and other members fro LBPWiki have been working also in Userboxes
What's an userbox?
It's a little 'box' containing some info, and also by adding it will add automatically an Category to your User page, what's very useful. For example:
I placed the userbox that I'm brazilian.
And, also, GDN placed the userbox.
http://img233.imageshack.us/img233/24/userboxbr.png
As that we both placed the userboxes I, and other members, can click the 'Users that live in Brazil' category in the down part of the user page to see the users that live in Brazil, what's very useful.
Also, to use the userboxes, all you need to do is add {{userbox ##}}, with ## being what you want to add. I'm working in country userboxes, and I'm using the ISO 3166 alpha-2 codes to name the Userboxes. I've choosed the ISO 3166 because it's exatcly like the domain of the country, expect for UK, that's the ISO code is 3166, but any other country doesn't use the UK code, so if you type {{userbox UK}}, you will get a redirect to {{userbox GB}}, so there's no problem.
My objective is to add userboxes for almost every country in the world.
To check all the userboxes, just head here: Category:User boxes (http://wiki.lbpcentral.com/Category:User_boxes)

We certainly have not ignored the PSP title on purpose! But we only had a short time to get the thing organized and up and running, and we were tasked with getting it launched "around the release of LBP2". Therefore, there is a lot of material that needs to be added for all the titles. We're hoping the community stays involved and helps us flesh things out!

Awesome, please remember to start your glitch articles with the {{community}} tag at the top! We're trying to notify users as to which wiki content is "unofficial" for lack of a better term." We all agree that there is a lot of knowledge in the community user base that we look forward to documenting, but we also want to be sure that we're presenting information as accurately as possible.

About that, forgot to say it i my last post.
May I reccomend using a diffeeremt color?
I'm saying since Red is the color Moderators, Super moderators, Staff, and/ or Administrators oftern use on forums, not to mention your names are currently attract a lot more attention than those of the Mods/ Admin(s) in this site, so even tho users who've been here a while will know, my gues its many older users may not, thus confusing you with a Forum Authority.
Kinda like ith the "Distinguished Users" Sytem that was taken down earlier on for that exact same reason, funny enough, the Distinguished user name's were also in red if I recall correctly, so I don't see how this could cause less problem than that being the same situstion in a way.

Maybe I would reccomend something like,(Dark) Yellow/ Gold, Purple, light blue, green-blue (Turqoise), or any lighter/ cool color.
Otherwise people are gonna thinkYer admins since they'll see Blue names (Mods) and Red names (You which may be confused as Admins or Super Modereators.) more than the Green name who is the actual Admin..

I didn't get a chance to look close, but if the current Create Mode page is specific to LPB1 then it ought to moved to Create Mode (LBP1) and a new Create Mode page created for LBP2.

[ED: I reviewed the create mode page and it's mostly LBP2 information now. We're still bouncing around ideas for how to deal with community generated "custom" content, for now, create a "Create Mode Tips (LBP2)" page and add the {{community}} tag to the top.]

there is no specific lbp1 create mode section,
but it does not state that its for both lbp1 and 2,
since lbp2 has more features it might be confusing for ppl who just obtained lbp1 (You never know)

Lbp2 thermo = lbp1 thermo, with the addition of left over thermo in one catagory, will sort of automatically be used for other catagories.

The general rule of thumb is that the wiki is for LBP2, so information about LBP1 should be noted otherwise, preferably on separate articles with an (LBP1) after them. If an LBP1 article is created we should be putting a disambig header at the top directing people to the LBP1, PSP, and/or SPM (believe it or not) articles.

Hide/Unhide. I know that just pressing L1 anywhere won't work to unhide. You need your popit cursor open and I believe the popit cursor needs to be over another object for L1 to work.
No, can press L1 anywhere as long as popit cursor is active.

Suggest that Selection/Multi-Selection be split, because the implication is that you can select an object with X, then hold down R2 to multi-select additional objects. In fact, you must select and hold R2 first before selecting any object to multi-select.

Im on it.

Are you going to be creating separate articles for each of those Cursor controls? I would have thought you explained it well enough on the Create Mode page. If note, we should remove the wiki links to broken pages. That's why I bold faced them instead.

umm, somehow you forgot to have page on layers. i would make one myself but i dont know where to put it.

We started with the basics so that you guys could expand on that and fill in the missing gaps of information, so feel free to make an article on layers. If you go to wiki.lbpcentral.com/Layers (http://wiki.lbpcentral.com/Layers) and click "Create" at the top right hand corner you can make a new article about layers.

Before I write one of my trademark rants against the site, was their any thought taken as to the other LBP Wiki? I'd sure hate to be the admins of that site right now... to put all that hard work into tributing Mm and their games, only to pick someone else - even more, someone who hadn't existed for most of the time they were hard at work, got a 'special' status from Mm.

Wow, this is AWESOME! Great job everyone - I'm really excited about this.

Now I just need to decide: sleep or contribute to the wiki.... sleep or contribute to the wiki.... Ah, who needs sleep?

Before I write one of my trademark rants against the siteNormally my trademark response to your trademark rants is just to not reply, but in this case I'll make an exception. A little banter every now and again does a person good, you know?

was their any thought taken as to the other LBP Wiki?I'm not sure why this matters at all, but... Thought taken by whom? Mm? You should ask them.

I'd sure hate to be the admins of that site right now...It's a good thing you're not then. (Or are you??)

to put all that hard work into tributing Mm and their games, only to pick someone else - even more, someone who hadn't existed for most of the time they were hard at work, got a 'special' status from Mm.It is the way of things. Why does someone who studied for half the time get a higher grade on their exam? Why do Walmarts get built and put local shops out of business? Why does Miley Cyrus make more money than me?

It's clear the team here has put a LOAD of work into this, so let's not rain on the parade. We should be glad for this community resource and give the team credit for their outstanding effort.

Following the link in the OP, and I can't get on? It says the server is down for maintenance and I just get the error screen.

I may have missed a post with an updated link somewhere, in which case the OP needs editing. If not, I'm using Chrome for Mac, dunno if anyone else has the issue? Unless it is infact down, but it said that about 2 hours ago when I tried as well...

The link worked for me in IE at least. And if it works in Internet Exploder....

There should be a wiki tab on the top bar (to the right of forum) as well.

Just tried, that doesn't work either.

I'll try firefox, see if it's Chrome specific...

Edit: Firefox just brings up a blank screen but doesn't load any further. Dunno what's going on there, Chrome still gives thee rror.

http://littlebigplanet.wikia.com/wiki/LittleBigPlanet_Wiki , If you don't know what I'm talking about.

'tis the way of the world. In an "everyone is equal" sense, yeah, they got snuffed, but so did every other LBP community. The fact of the matter is, we have more resources than most - better servers, better software, better expertise on staff (not to mention the insanely amazing community) - and as a result, we're a better home for something like this. As you said, they've existed for as long (if not longer) than we have, and yet they still don't have their own server, their own software, or even their own domain. That speaks to the resources (or dedication) of the people managing it - and that's why they selected us.

If I sound rude, my apologies to the staff on that site. I'm certainly not trying to be condescending - I respect all the work they've put into it. A wiki is certainly no easy task. I'm just looking at it from the same point of view as Mm did. They want the best result, and they can't do it themselves for legal reasons - so they turned to us for hosting and initial coordination.

As I've said before, the wiki is only very loosely tied to LBPCentral. Yes, we're involved, but only in a "gentle guidance" sort of way - for the most part, the wiki will be evolving as its own site, with its dedicated staff making their own decisions along the way. We allow anyone, LBPC member or not, to make use of the wiki. We really just want this to be a great tool for everyone in the LBP community.

We poured every ounce of effort we had into this wiki (I say "we", but it was really the wiki staff that are responsible for the insane amount of content; I just got the wiki running properly) - if it turns out to surpass other LBP community wikis, I can do nothing else than be proud of everyone involved in its conception and development. I can't make myself feel guilty for being involved in something so awesome.

It's funny how running a website can be just like running a business. In the free market world, everyone is allowed to compete with each other and those who aren't able to keep up, suffer and die. That's how it should be and I wouldn't want it any other way. Go capitalism!

Just like when hiring for a job, it only makes sense to hire the most suitable candidate for it. Those who aren't able to keep up with the competition need to either shape up or step to the side. Laissez-faire... just let nature take its course. Those who are truly better will prevail naturally.

Nice that there is a real Wiki about LittleBigPlanetCentral
It's not about LittleBigPlanet Central, and yes, about LittleBigPlanet.,
Well, I don't think this is 100% necessary but, i think Wiki Moderators should have dark blue names, like this, except if you guys think there are too much Wiki Moderators.

Myself and the other Wiki Curators decided that this would be a tad on the side of overkill.
Over time we should see the moderation team continuing to expand and it would result in just having too many users with uniquely coloured names on the forum.

The Wiki Curator names are just for the convenience of others, so that they know that they're speaking directly to somebody who has a larger level of control over the Wiki's contents and administration. Additionally if there's any disputes over moderation, then they'll know that we're the ones to talk to about the dispute.

If somebody wishes to contact a specific Wiki Moderator, their contact details are provided on the Wiki:
http://wiki.lbpcentral.com/LBPWiki:Contact_Us

So they should know who the Wiki Moderators are.
Don't worry, your efforts definitely won't go unnoticed.

Guys, few tips about images since i see strange placings Wiki already have large set of game related images:

Game Icons: http://wiki.lbpcentral.com/LBPWiki:LBP_Icons
Controls: http://wiki.lbpcentral.com/LBPWikiS_Controller_Icons
Gadgets: http://wiki.lbpcentral.com/Gadgets
There also some others that are not listed, but are usally in mm images category:
http://wiki.lbpcentral.com/Category:Mm_images

So you want to upload something check if there already something you needed already uploaded
Also don't mind go to any MM site and get higher quality images from there, as long you place MM licensing it's alright. Try to find once with transparent background since they have larger editable value, if you can add transparency then do it ;] MM also delivering images for as even those who are not normally available in public (LBP Icons is prime example), so high quality images for something might show up some day

If you want to upload screen shot don't use external camera! (i already seen someone doing it ) Use game Upload feature, by pressing square on image and clicking upload, then go to lbp.me get to direct image url save to hard drive and reupload to wiki, quality will be much better ;]

Also use thumbs for images like this:

[[File:File.png|200px|thumb|right|alt text]]

Images will look nicer this way, also check if there a infobox template for article you working on (If not and it part of group of articules ask Rohar to do one ), there a place for image too.

The LittleBigPlanet Wiki has just been announced on MediaMolecule.com.
http://www.mediamolecule.com/blog/article/announcing_the_littlebigplanet_wiki/

Earlier this week the LBP Community got a brand new resource, in the shape of the LittleBigPlanet Wiki (http://wiki.lbpcentral.com/LBPWiki_Main). The wiki was put together and is now moderated by a team of community members from across the community, is hosted by LBPCentral, and is waiting for you to jump in and fill it up with awesome info!

This much needed Wiki has been a long time coming, and with a little help from the community, the team at Media Molecule, and eventually you as well, we?re now delighted to open it up to the LittleBigPlanet Community, ready to welcome your contributions.

This Wiki, much like LittleBigPlanet itself, is community-driven and will continue to expand and evolve thanks to the contributions of none other than yourselves, the LittleBigPlanet community.

We?ve been working hard on setting up the basic style and framework and getting started on oh so many great articles, however it's now down to you guys to help us fill in the gaps!

So what are you waiting for? It's time to dive in! (http://wiki.lbpcentral.com/LBPWiki_Main)

We can?t wait for people to start sharing basic and more complicated create methods into this thing, it should be a great resource for for us all. Some folk here have already started to add bits and pieces here and there?

Congratulations for being mentionned on MM blog ! You really deserved it.

I am really interested by the character cutomisation, especially the costume parts sections. Will every costume part get its own dedicated page ?

I know this would take a whole lot of space and would be hard to manage, but this would be really interesting for people looking for a particular piece of clothing (DLC are full of awesome haircuts). This would help them a lot on finding the perfect costume !

I'll try to do my best to help.

EDIT : Just tried editing two pages (Dr. Eggman and Sacktue of Liberty costumes), and I'm really enjoying it. I'll probably do more if my work seems good.

Mediawiki doesn't handle names starting with > very well.

Not just MediaWiki - the XP store doesn't like 'em either.

We disabled the creation of accounts with usernames containing 'unusual' characters for the purposes of wiki-compatibility last year, but it looks like you created your account before this change. Valid characters are now: A-Z, a-z, 0-9, space, hyphen, and underscore.

Suffice it to say, you're gonna have problems with that username, so if you could pick another username which doesn't contain unusual characters, we can change it.

Calling all Happy Gadders!!

The LittleBigPlanet Wiki really needs your help!

The Wiki Curators (StevenI, Holguin86, and I) along with a host of helpful Wiki Moderators are seeking those loyal LBP fans out there that want to help their community in a meaningful way. We've got a great start on the wiki, but we have a LOT of content that still needs to be input, and we simple can't get it done without you.

The LittleBigPlanet community are some of the most loyal gamers I've encountered and there is simply no reason, with your help, that we can't make the LittleBigPlanet Wiki simply the best fan contributed game related wiki on the Earth (and I'm not just talking about the Earth you see in your Pod.)

Wiki-texting might seem a little daunting at first, but we have a lot of folks that can help point you in the right direction, so you can copy and paste things to get started.

Head on over to the LittleBigPlanet Wiki (http://www.lbpwiki.org) and get started! What are you waiting for?!?

Like LBP Create Mode wiki editing seems easy at first, then you realize how complex it is, and you feel daunted. Don't let that stop you! We've created several useful templates and many are well documented, so you'll have a basis to go on. Just typing in the basic information in text format without working about "wiki coding" would be fine, as there are a few of us that are more wiki savvy that follow behind and spruce everything up.

Thanks for your help!
