Some multiplayer versus questions

Archive: 3 posts

Hi there.

I am currently creating a top-view-race-game (yes. another one ). Everything works quite nice but I have some questions regarding the versus mode.

1. I want to show the remaining laps through a motorized element activated by a ?C, that is triggered by a player sensor. How do I make sure that only the one Sackboy playing is causing the trigger or are all elements in versus-Mode always just react on the current player?

2. Do I have to paint 4 cars or just one and every player gets his own?

3. The cars can be destroyed causing a respawn. Works quite well but I would really love to use different colors. Is there a chance to find out which car the player selected? (I CANNOT use any wires from a generated Item to logic)

I googeled like hell and did not find any good answer to those elementary questions. Would be really nice if someone could help me out here, cause these are things I cannot test on ONE console. (And buying a second one for this is NO option

Ok by the looks of it you are looking to make the cars so that they are the Same colour as the player? These options are available in animated materials under "copy player _ colour" this means that no matter what car the player gets into the colour will be theirs (I think :blush

I don't have a solution to the lap setup but talk to some of the logic wizards in LBPC and I am sure that they will have a solution

Hope that helps!

Ah. Thanks a lot that DOES really help.

Hmm. Perhaps I can use that also for lap count showing 4 values ?!?. I'll try that.

BTW. Does settting the match color of a player sensor mean this only counts for the local player or is this only an optic issue?
