70s Levels!

Archive: 10 posts

Yay! In a day or two, I'll have my first 70s level out! Alright, so each of these levels will take you through some crazy scenario that happened in the 70s. The first level will be "Welcome To the 70s", which will really just be a level with a bunch of disco lights everywhere and some guy with a moustache, but, this will give you a key to the next level, which will be about something else...I just don't know yet.

I want to release this level today or tomorrow, unfortunately, I'm very far away from the end of my level (which I made second, after the beginning, lol)
This is why I need YOUR help! Well, one problem I'm having is...I..wasn't...born in the seventies...BUT! TV has taught me enough to make this level successfully. Basically the only things I have that REALLY makes the level 70s-ish are the hippies that you bounce off of (like Meerkats), a dude with a mustache who guides you through the level, and some disco balls and some funky lights (which I am quite proud of )

...But I need some more seventies stuff!
Any ideas? I'm trying to use all the stuff from the Metropolis theme.

The first things that come into my mind would probably get the level removed (drugs, sex, etc.). How about the rise of second wave Feminism? The completion of the Sears Tower (that sounds metropolis related...)? Lifted bans on censorship? How about the boom of game shows like The Price is Right or the fact that the variety show was in its final years? The battle between Jazz music and Disco music?

If these don't help, there's always That 70s Show...

oooh... see if you can create some sort of lava lamp effect. not sure how you'd do it but if you can, you're a special kind of awesome. i'm thinking glass and fairy lights are the place to start...

music was very important in the 70s (not that i was alive then either)... perhaps do something with a record, HUGE headphones or even an 8-trak. and roller skates (i'm just going through That 70s Show episodes in my head...)

oh... and your level should be 'foggy'

If you want to be accurate, disco didn't start until the late 70's, the early 70's was all about the end of Vietnam, Watergate and music like Creedence, Led Zepplin, etc

that's actually a neat idea (not sure if that's what you were going for). have the level be a progression through the decade...

1. Popular Music: The Eagles, Elton John, James Taylor, Bruce Springsteen, Billy Joel
Those are just the ones that I like, here's a bigger description: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1970s_in_music

2. Nixon and Watergate

I'm pretty sure you're legally required to put a Shaft reference in there.2008-11-11 17:27:00

When you publish a level, you get keys. These keys you can put in certain levels so you unlock another level, like in story mode when you collect keys to get minigames.
