OMG!
After some meager edition of the Spotlight, a huge one! Thanks crew
And congrats to the creators! There's some new young blood around from whom I expect a lot on LBP2.
This starts to say goodbye to LBP1 and welcome to LBP2 with real bangs!

Thanks for the spotlight guys Its been a long time since I last published anything, and it's fantastic to see my name up there.

I can only imagine how much work youre putting in, what with playing the story, LBP1 AND LBP2 levels, youre work is greatly appreciated

It also feels weird seeing an ex team member and spotlight colleague posting the actual threads

Glad to see that LBP hard mode made it in. It caught a lot of bad comments. But if you are into a challenge it's totally fun. And it's still playable in LBP2. The super jump lives on!!!

EDIT: How is it that a level can only be available in LBP1? The Ama Toor Project. Aren't all LBP1 levels playable through LBP2?

Because you can set that option in LBP2.

Not even a mention for my level... I thought it was useful. Oh well.

Will the spotlight continue to feature LBP1 levels?

This spotlight caught us by surprise somewhat, about 130 levels sprung up from nowhere and I ended up fighting off about 105 of the blighters with a stick 0.o

That's why I didn't put comments in this time, too shattered with that level payload and a 68hour marathon of LBP2

It's coming. CC and others are still working on the code. At the moment, it's possible but extremely impractical.

Great spotlight spotlight team!!!!11!!!1!!!

I saw radishlord's Deadly Complex and he was kind enough to play through it with me because my stickers never appear in popit and I have the Community Objects setting on.

And bloo_bog and radishlord are on, like, a ROLE of spotlighting, I've seen their names up there a lot recently, so keep up the good work guys! (everyone not just radish and bloo....)

Just sayin' Rio Dance Off is more than worthy of a spotlight but I'm not one to complain and I know the crew made the right decisions on who to spotlight. Well done team! We do appreciate all the kind things you do for us and the disheartening commenters are just.... silly people

And there's 2 more jewels in the Mm Picks, 1 by johnee (Blast Radius) and another by someone else. I don't know if they're signed up to LBPC but if they were I think they'd be in for a chance of spotlighting, so well done to them.

Jackofcourse's level was my favourite, those pandas are funneh..... Well done to HIM...

Well done to all the spotlighted people, LBP1, 2 or LBP PSP-kind. You deserve it! And well done to the readers for... reading?

Ok, that's my list of thanks done. What next? NO! I RAN OUT OF IDEAS!

A great set of levels there. The ones I've played already were awesome. Glad to see so many puzzle levels on the list - Deadly Complex, Ethereal Musings and Sanctuarium, all very different but fun to play. I must drag myself away from LBP2 story mode and get down to playing the rest.

Many thanks to the Spotlight crew - can't think how you managed to fit in playing so many levels with LBP2 just out - there should be a pin for that somewhere.

What happened to your setup?
Everything is all in one. Absolutely no indication as to whether the level is from lbp1 or lbp2...
It may not be confusing in this spotlight but it will be pretty soon!
Good job with the spotlight otherwise. But I think you need a more clearly laid out system.
I disagree with the entire site's integration. I think the showcase should be split. But just two sub forums wouldn't be so difficult.

I think I mostly agree, and believe me, we're working on it. As Asbestos said, we were hit with a ton of levels, and I too played about 105 levels and then put most of the thread together. We just simply didn't have enough time to break things up.

The code is still really crazy, but CC and others are working on it to get it to work. IMO, we'll probably continue as-is, and if it gets too messy, we'll split it up and make it more organized. I think we'll be talking about it over the next few weeks. Thanks for the input.

I think the showcase should be split..
I was looking back at previous spotlights (before I existed ) and thats what quite a lot of people were saying about when the PSP joined in "I don't care about the PSP" they said.
since lbp2 is obviously going to rule out lbp1 in the near future...... IDK maybe a spoiler with lbp1 levels in it????

The code is still really crazy, but CC and others are working on it to get it to work.

Actually, we'd pushed the changeover to the next spotlight, because we were fairly certain there wouldn't be time for any quality LBP2 levels to be built and published before the cutoff (Wednesday), as it was only one day after release.

Unfortunately, jackofcourse, GruntosUK, and Wexfordian, "somehow" managed to produce some quality LBP2 levels two days before it was released in the countries they live in.

We should have the all-new format ready for next time.

Don't seperate the LBP1 levels from the LBP2 ones. There's nothing wrong about LBP1 levels and they will disappear soon anyways. If you think the majority of the spotlighted levels will still be LBP1 levels in 6 months from now, you're fooling yourself.
The Community Spotlight is there to promote the best level, them being in one game or another shouldn't matter. Seperating LBP1 levels or giving LBP2's an advantage would be to state that a LBP1 is automatically handicapped and can't be as good as a LBP2 level ---- wich is completely false.

I think the point is that not everyone has LBP2, and they can't play LBP2 levels in LBP 1.

No, you just get tons of noobs downrating your levels because they can't figure out how to solve a puzzle.

(Noobs like me, I hate that Survival Skill Test, so I downrated it 4 stars! Hah! )

I haven't checked this but on the LBP.me streaming with the level badge doesn't it have a green tree (LBP2) or a pink tree (LBP1) or no tree (BP PSP as they have no LBP.me I think) depending on what it's on?

It's not a matter of segregation or anything. It's just to make things more organized, especially in the transition period where there's levels from both games. We have to differentiate them so that LBP1 players know which levels they can or can't play. Think of it as the difference between LBP1 and LBP PSP; we separate them so the PSP users know which ones to play, and it's all around more organized. Later, if there's only one or two LBP1 levels per episode, we'll obviously reconsider the formatting.

I haven't checked this but on the LBP.me streaming with the level badge doesn't it have a green tree (LBP2) or a pink tree (LBP1) or no tree (BP PSP as they have no LBP.me I think) depending on what it's on? The badge and the icon are different pictures, so it took them a bit to get everything aligned (*winces in anticipation of Aya's correction* ). At any rate, posting the image here doesn't keep the LBP1/LBP2 icons.

We've actually got some of the ad levels up there... three of them, if I remember right. And if Comphermc made one, he didn't publish it here; as far as I'm aware he's working on other projects.

Due to the high volume of Level Showcase submissions since the release of LBP2, and a number of other factors, the team hasn't had the time to get through them all, so we've decided to skip one. The next episode will cover a 4-week period, and is expected to be published next weekend.

In these case in of extreme publishing, the team should cut the fat more. Enter level (doesn't seems in the standards of quality after 2 mins - quit - next). The spotlight shouldn't be bigger either. You guys/gals might not come out of the rush anytime soon if you don't do this.

(I hope this was a given, sorry if I was stating the obvious.)

Well, that wouldn't be very fair to leave cause the level didn't impress you right away.

However, I understand the strain of having to play every level that gets published - especially when people are publishing their, "still a work in progress" levels.

I would simply ask some of the steady reviewers from the reviews section to help out - or ask them outright to be part of the team.

Not sure is this is sarcasm or not...
I just mean to accelerate the process. Besides, you don't need to play a level in it's entirety to judge it. It's just like reviews, if you think gaming journalists (generally speaking) are playing the games entirely, you're kidding yourself.

I've played really great levels that don't pick up until half way through. Quitting a level without completing it can make you lose out on some real gems :/

Not really. If you start a level and your on the background floor and ou start heading up a triangles of wood, then you get to a fire pit with two sponges you use to swing accross, you can pretty much be sure the rest of the level is not going to be promising. What Ranger means is if you can be sure the level is not going to be deserving of a spotlight by only playing the first two minutes, leave. But if you play a sort of iffy level you should still stay, just in case.

Have you been playing levels in the Level Showcase. I haven't seen anything that bad. Most is just good enough that you can't jump to those conclusions.

1000 levels posted since ep 57.

The joys of not being a spotlighter! Good luck mates, I have a feeling you'll need it!

Have you been playing levels in the Level Showcase. I haven't seen anything that bad. Most is just good enough that you can't jump to those conclusions.

Even so, there's a clear difference between what is spotlight material and what isn't. You should be able to play any level and within the first minute should come to a conclusion ("this is awesome, definite spotlight", "this is good, shows some promise and maybe a contender" or "is this the best the community can offer? Clearly not"). Levels are all about first impressions anyway. If it was up to me I wouldn't even play all the levels if you can tell from a picture in the thread that it's not going to be very good. But fortunately it isn't up to me.

So how many spotlight will we need to get back with the flow of levels?
Also, spotlight 58 will have like triple the usual amount of levels?

I really don't mean to be rude, or tacky hear, but I love looking at the spotlights to find games I'm too lazy to read about on my own and find good ones I missed, but we haven't had one out for I think 5 weeks now, compared to one every week and a half. IS something wrong? Busy with school? I'd just like to know, and once again not trying to sound impacient and mean or anything.2011-03-02 02:46:00

What I don't understand is that we can't have any comments from the team.
I am asking seriously -- is there some problems we aren't aware? Is the spotlight team in trouble? Need new people?
I might offer my help if need be. I thought maybe this year I would participate in doing this since I might get lapsed as a creator anyways.

The team is still working hard slogging through the showcase levels. Last I saw it was over 1000 levels that were in the list to play, so you can imagine the time they're putting in.

CC and the team are trying to work out solutions to get the spotlight back on track but in the meantime we'll have to be patient and send some encouragement their way.

They should just put out what they have right now. I mean, it's just going to keep getting worse as more and more levels pile up.
Uh, good luck though?

Is it possible that they could give us a "best of so far" list? It wouldn't need any fancy descriptions tagged to the levels and it wouldn't have to have a link to it from everwhere (like 57 currently has) but it would mean that we have something to enjoy while waiting. (:2011-03-03 22:07:00

I think we should just do what Morgana says and wait until theyre ready to give us what they want to give us.2011-03-03 23:25:00

Not sure is this is sarcasm or not...
I just mean to accelerate the process. Besides, you don't need to play a level in it's entirety to judge it. It's just like reviews, if you think gaming journalists (generally speaking) are playing the games entirely, you're kidding yourself.

Most reputable journalist make a point of finishing games before reviewing them, and if you read various magazines' small print they will tell you as much.

Crappy sites like Gamespot, not so much.

I'd have to argue that playing a level in it's entirity is essential. What if the first 7/8ths of the level were awesome, but it couldn't be finished due to the scoreboard falling through the floor or something. That sure as hell doesn't deserve a spotlight. - Just my 2cents.
