LBP2 Save is gone!

Archive: 9 posts

Hi- I did a system transfer from my old PS3 to a new one. I'm having trouble with LBP2. On the new system it wants to start a new game. I double checked the old system and there is no saved data file- only the game utility data files that did copy over, yet the new system will not recognize them. I did deactivate the old system and activated the new one... I am confused why there wouldn't be a save file in the old system for this game which was almost completed- what else am I missing? Thanks.2011-01-24 04:15:00

I'm having the same exact problem. I just sent an email to Sony about it because I'm not finding any answers on google.

But I don't think the game has a saved game file to begin with. Everything is stored in the Game Data. My old profile still exists in the Game Data, but LBP2 won't recognize it. It keeps wanting to make a new profile.

If sony tells me anything in response to my email, I'll post it here.

Always do a backup profile save when it comes to LBP & do them once in a while.2011-01-25 11:34:00

try using the data transfer utility in the system settings on the ps3 xmb, as long that you have ethernet cables, connect the two consoles together and it will transfer all files and even any copy protected ones.2011-01-26 00:35:00

That's what I did. I used the data transfer tool to transfer everything over.

Apparently I was supposed to back up the profile into a save file from within the game before doing the data transfer.

My profile still exists from my previous system. It's in the data folder for LBP2. But the game won't recognize it on the new system.

I decide to just go ahead and start over. Oh well.

Well, I just did the system data transfer utility, and I did back up my profile as a save file (in fact I have 2!), but the new PS3 still won't recognize it. I don't have time to experiment but if and when I get it working I'll come back here and post. If anyone has experienced this problem and has figured it out, please let us know.2011-01-28 21:40:00

I think if you are in the pod you can go to the start menu and import a profile. From there, you just select your saved back up and it tells you everything you currently have will be erased and replaced by your back up profile. Hit okay, and it should import it.

Now why didn't I think of that!? Thanks!

I did the same thing, but the problem is I sold my old ps3 before I bought the new one, so I pretty much lost all costumes, pins and leves finished....
I still have trophies for acing all the levels though, thank god!
