In/out mover help

ok so i want a block to come out of a wall and push my player off the walking platform, but i want it to wait about 2 seconds before it comes out, and i need a way for it to go back in the wall once it's done, i know that requires 2 moves but i can't figure out the logic to do that, any ideas?2011-01-24 02:16:00

Attach the block to the wall with a piston.
Now add in a microchip on the block.
In the microchip add a player sensor connected to a counter connected to a timer.
Change the counter to 1 and the timer to 1 second. add the output of the timer to the piston.
Also add the output of the timer to the reset of the timer and the counter. (this will reset the block after 2 seconds).
If you can't get this to work, let me know, I have another idea.

Have you tried placing two timers and two in/out movers? One of the timers would be set at 2 (The one that pushes you off), and the other one set at 2.2 or somewhere close to that (Retracting). See if that works, and I hoped I helped out!

(SomethinAmazinn beat me to it )

Take a selector with two outputs and hook the outputs up to the two movers. One set to move in, one set to move out. Then, take a timer and hook it up into its own reset input so that it loops infinitively. Connect the timer to the selector's cycle input, and the wall will move in and out every few seconds.

Hope this is what you're talking about!

Use a signal combiner. If a signal goes through the positive port, it will bring it out. If it goes through the negative port, it will send it back.

(player sensor)-----|timer|----------------------(+)|signal |---------[in/out mover]
---[NOT gate]------(-)|combiner|

Theres a simple showing of it. Hope it helps. That should work. You might have to adjust the setting in them, but it should work just fine.

that worked so i got it where it moves in and out(thanks btw) but for some reason it won't move back even though there is room, which is odd because if i just sit it on the ground it moves fine2011-01-24 02:50:00

Yup there have been some problems with moving things in and out if it's supposed to fit perfectly. Try this. Without a grid on, select one of the block that you wanted to push forwards and backwards, and make it a tiny bit smaller. Just a teeny tiny bit smaller. It should work then.2011-01-24 03:10:00

i did and it still won't move back, the problem has to have something to do with the fact that the pushed out material it slides out onto, is seperate from the material the block is originally sitting on, is there a way you can make it float so that it won't have any material sliding issues it will just move back and forth through the air

woot! got it, you had to have the two materials absolutely perfectly leveled to make it go back
