Fallout: New Vegas characters!

Archive: 4 posts

Hey guys

What type of characters are you guys rocking in Fallout New Vegas?

I have a sniper-y guy, and I've collected all rare/unique weapons e.g. Gobi Campaign Scout Rifle, CZ57 Avenger etc...

Feel like this should be merged with the older NV thread but whatever. Played this through a few times already and after my effective-but-boring "genius and guns" character, my much more exciting "crazed explosive and energy weapon toting mad scientist", and my interesting "super-hedonistic bloodthirsty vigilante" runs I decided to do a beloved Fallout tradition and do a "retard run," which is about as PC as it sounds.

"Slack-Jawed Cletus" started with a whooping 1 intelligence (boosted to an astonishing 2 through implants!) and with a face that suggests severe inbreeding. Even though he's severely deficient mentally most of his other "SPECIAL" (ha...) stats except charisma are really high. It's actually pretty fun and how I went about it resulted in a uniquely effective character; even though I'm getting so few skill points I've got just enough to get high levels in speech, barter, lockpick and energy weapons (all which can hit 100 with the right equipment and/or magazines). The idea is that despite being a complete idiot he is somehow an incredibly capable orator and savvy businessman, and when he can't talk his way out of a situation he's nigh-unstoppable in combat with a ridiculous amount of health, an insane critical hit rate, multiple forms of health regeneration, and so many biotechnological upgrades that it's questionable just how human he actually is anymore.

At first I considered making him use Guns and specifically using shotguns (for somewhat obvious reasons...) but I decided to use Energy weapons as it's hilarious to imagine the horror of a complete idiot having access to some of the most technologically advanced military weapons available (his high critical hit rate also means he leaves ash and goo everywhere). I like to think that Cletus is actually decended from the Swampfolk of Point Lookout from FO3 and something of a mutant himself, which suddenly makes everything about his character (except the high speech and barter) make perfect sense.

I lol'd at the inbred, idiot bussiness man with the plasma weapons
