Little Big Mobile Suits >=D

Okay... here's a vid of what I'm currently working on in LBP.

Some good 'ol side scrolling mecha action.

I won't be using the Zakus in the final version thanks to the recent string of moderation, but I'll make 'em hidden prizes. I just used the Zakus as test versions of my mecha. The first true finalized mecha is the green suit I use near the end of the video. What isn't shown is the recent addition I made for continuing battle damage from bullets etc. I'll feature that somewhere down the line as time permits. There's also close range combat, but I had destroyed my melee test subjects and accidentally saved the level after the fact. :lol

Also, I'm working on a transformable mecha which can be controlled similar to the mecha in the video. These things also allow for 2 players to hop in, modifying the weaponry to become more powerful. I'll consistently update this thread as I continue to make more varied mecha.

Hope y'all like what you see.

Well this is rather annoying. If the video doesn't show up there, watch it through this link.

Nope. I haven't been on my PS3 much lately to do so. Second, I'd want to get the mechanics down for these things before I started it up. I have drawn up blueprints for the 3 stages I'm eventually gonna make but to me it's more important to get the main features of the armored suits down pat with no flaws (which will be impossible).

Impossible goals are always the best. That way, you never run out of things to do.

Hehe, that's why I'm doing it. I like doing stuff out of the norm. It's like, "you wanna control a mech and blow stuff up? I got one right here for you."

This is also a response to not seeing anything remotely similar in the main game while they teased with a gundam like sackboy sticker in the inside cover. =/

What's your solution for the steering/control of the things whilst in the air? Something I've been puzzling over for one of my own creations...2008-11-11 13:35:00

Grab hold with a jetpack and go from there.

i love your armorboy stuff i was really dissapointed that your attack on sector 7 didn't have more stuff to do with the armorboy but it was fun anyway

i even made some of my own armorboy type mechs and did a different version of your level (with your mech) i have all my other mechs in a level titled The A.R.M.O.R. Store! would you mind checking them out and telling me how to improve them

btw how do you get the hidden prizes in your level i couldn't find any thing:blush:

Looking great so far. I really fancied the mechs in the armorboy series, so it will be blast to pilot one. I know it's piloted by jetpack, but I presume the rockets are providing some kind of lift as well? If so, good job on balancing them...2009-03-02 06:03:00

I'm gonna back to this project in a bit. It'll definitely have more room to maneuver and whatnot. Veronica Belmont was having a blast with them when she came over so I think I know what I need to do to have players have more fun with them.

And yes, the rockets do provide lift as well. It took forever to balance. I'll also be implementing the paint balls for ammo so it should cut down on the thermo even more.

Your mech is realy awesome, i really enjoyied your level. If you want a tip, i made a "mech", it doesn't fly, but it runs like a "dog" (it has 2 legs to move with pistons and bolts). When i was doing the mech, i had an idea: something like a "power shield", that appears pressing X and defends the mech form the attacks. I made it with invisible material and blue glass, is a little curved, and it is emitted for some seconds, so it appears when you need it. You can add to your mech this type of shield, maybe you can make a "ball" that protects the mech from all directions
If you want, i can show you how to make it.

After a couple weeks of mean trial and error, I decided to come back to this thread with some teasers. I had the exact same idea and was wondering how I could implement it aside from using the previous Armorboy controls.

Needless to say, I think I have come up with a way more effective process to control the mecha (i.e. don't hold R1 forever) and do multiple actions all at your command. This means shooting forward, shooting backward, creating a shield, doing melee, transforming etc. etc. whenever you want to! At the moment the most I can do is 4 actions, but either having 3 or 2 is needed for more intuitive gameplay.

Plus I've been working on implementing powerups and multiple amounts of damage thanks to paintballs. Mind you, everything is enclosed in the mech. There is no off-screen mechanics keeping track of these things. My only problem that I'm dealing with now is working a way to jump in and out of the mecha at will similar to the previous Armorboy. As of now, once you get in, you can't get out unless you die.

Anyway, be on the lookout for some cool stuff regarding some Armorboy EX action in the near future. =)

I'll post some pics and vids really soon.
