Text in LBP2?
Archive: 7 posts
Hi there, Slushy here. I am new to LBPC and I'm hoping to learn a lot from such an awesome community and actually publishing levels for LBP2. Ok sorry for the random intro. I have noticed in many LBP2 levels that they have white text towards the bottom of the screen. An example is that insanely popular Tower Defense in Mm Picks. Anyways I was wondering if anyone knew how to insert that text as I have looked everywhere for it with no luck. I do not mean notes either. This text is just plain white at the bottom of the screen. I'm thinking it may have something to do with a movie cam, but I looked through the tweaks on that and, again, no luck. ~Thanks! | 2011-01-23 08:08:00 Author: Slushy Posts: 4 |
I've not tried it, but try with a magic mouth. There is an option to make the text subtitle if I recall correctly. | 2011-01-23 10:44:00 Author: ColmiYveul Posts: 58 |
A few days ago I was wondering the same thing, the magic mouth has a setting called "Display Subtitles" you have to turn this on. However, it's not as simple as that as I found out because even with the setting turned on it wasn't working. In order to get the subtitles to work with the Magic mouth you need to add the Magic mouth to a Sequencer only then will it work. Once you place the Magic mouth on the Sequencer you can use the right Analog stick (up/down) to adjust the duration of the subtitles. | 2011-01-23 15:26:00 Author: LordOlives Posts: 3 |

If you're talking about prompts like "Press X to continue" then that's done with the Controlinator or DCS. When you place a controlinator, it opens a virtual controller that has outputs for each button and stick position. Put the cursor over the button you want to use, lets say the X, and press the Square button it opens a a window titled "Prompt". Then just press X and it opens the keyboard and you just enter whatever you want the prompt to say, in this case "Press X to continue". then you just connect that wire to whatever action you're trying to perform, for instance, a winch that opens a door. I suggest watching the Controlinator tutorial if you've never used it before. | 2011-01-23 16:07:00 Author: SirGreenDay Posts: 144 |
Thanks! I'm gonna give that a try! | 2011-01-24 05:21:00 Author: Slushy Posts: 4 |
Yup; it works like a charm. Also, by messing around with this same concept, I figured out that any recorded sounds placed on Magic Mouths within a sequencer can be played WITHOUT those annoying bubble pop ups. | 2011-01-24 05:55:00 Author: bigkurz8 Posts: 60 |
I was searching how to do this, works fine. My question now is, how do I disable the subtitles? With a simple magic mouth I could just close it by pressing O, but I can't turn off the sequencer... | 2011-02-07 13:22:00 Author: ZackBoy Posts: 65 |
