Leap Into LBP2!

Hi everyone. Whether you know it or not, I've been planning a pretty neat tutorial series for people who need a little extra help getting the new tools to work. I love Stephen Fry as much as the next guy, but the tutorials of his...well I guess they're Mm's...are just too basic and don't offer any in-depth tips to make truly amazing things.

Sackbot Tutorial
The first planned level in the series is for controlling sackbots. I know a lot of you have probably already seen sackbot tutorials out there, but this one, I guarantee is not like any other. I'm nearly finished with it and it will show off a special brand of controlling sackbots that I discovered during the beta (and when I say "I discovered", I am in no way claiming that I was the first. I'm simply stating that I happened upon it myself and hadn't seen it in use in other levels at the time). This special brand of controlling opens up new possibilities that aren't available to the traditional control method.

Not only do I teach players how to control the sackbot in this special way, but I do it with style! ;D You got that? I'm not taking it easy when it comes to visual flare and I literally spent 2 hours just trying to get some platforms to rotate correctly (stupid physics lol, Bremnen can vouch for me). I'll also be giving the sackbot control scheme away as a prize and it will contain notes for people who didn't feel like reading along during the level. So cheers! Expect to see this level up within the next week.

Top-Down Basics
In this level I'll be teaching players how to control top-down sackboys (aka, controlinator on something) and offering a jump function. I haven't completely planned out much else besides this for this level. I'm trying to think of what else could be added.

Having trouble figuring out the new tools?
Suggest a tutorial level and expect to see it soon...ish.

i would love to see this! my first level i had planned for lbp2 was a top down RPG style level, but there are just NO instructions on how to set this up. i'm completely competent when it comes to the logic tools, it's just that they don't explain how some tools work very well (the one's i'm most annoyed with are sackbots and movie cameras).

just a suggestion: you should include how to make the camera follow the sackbot you're controlling. i've been tinkering with this and can't figure it out

I hope to play this level soon. I know I'm pretty bad at logic compared to the next guy, and it's a little underwhelming that I understood the tutorials (When I view rtm's tutorials, I scratch my head in confusion and amazement). There's no need for movie cameras with the sackbot logic I use. It's apparently more common now than it was in the beta, and utilizes a following piece of invisible hologram. I've found some bugs with this control scheme though (mainly bubble collection) that I will share with those who play the tutorial level. Thanks for the feedback.

The ingame tutorials essentially just tell you what you can tweak, and what tweaking that feature will do. They don't tell you how to use multiple logic pieces together to create something amazing, which is what I hope my tutorial series will provide to the general masses. rtm's logic tutorials confuse me as well, so we're in the same boat there. xD I think it's the terminology he uses.

And yes, the sackbot tutorial is actually on hold right now because my dog chewed up my keyboard, so typing up magic mouths is a pain and I just simply don't have the the time to manually type them all up. I'm working on the visual aspect of the level while waiting to get a new keyboard however, and I'm writing up magic mouth plans in a word document to prevent myself from rambling or anything and causing confusion. xD
