Graphically there was much to be desired in this BETA test. Every object had harsh angles and the use of colors and stickers were sparse and were indeed left out. Even the use of materials was poorly done. There was nothing in this presentation that attempted to capture the user and bring them into an entirely new world. Instead your stuck looking through a cardboard box at what appears to be a cardboard land created from other scraps of, well, cardboard. Yes I know, its a BETA test. But at least a few decorations...maybe just three...two...okay, lets have at least one!

Sounds and Music was again below average. Yet again, the title screams at you that this is purely a BETA stage. Music was not captivating and there was so little going on, that associated sounds were near non-existent due to the lack of things to do. The Sound and Music of any game can literally make or break a game and since this level was merely a concept, it certainly didn't help it along any. Had it been a completed level, this particular area would certainly break it of any success it might have.

Gameplay was not a very memorable experience in this unique concept. What makes any concept or in this case 'BETA' successful, is by displaying how it can be used in a game setting. Had the gameplay been more engaging, the use of the HUD would be that more successful. At one point, you must take on an enemy and use all of what you learned in the tutorial. But where this concept fails, is having the speed to open up the popit and grab the sticker and then place it accordingly, such as to bring up your defense shield.

Final Thoughts: The thought of bringing in a HUD (Heads Up Display) system to LBP and bring in the traits of an RPG is a fascinating thought. With the restrictions of what LBP1 can do, your certainly held back from making it as fluid as a gamer would like to see. However, Tomeh999 did succeed in allowing the HUD to follow your little sackperson and the HP & MP was a neat addition and done rather well. I believe this concept could still be a successful one, even in LBP1 if the world around it was created with this particular HUD in mind. If perhaps a randomizer could be used to handle the attacks and the defensive moves and then relay that information to the HUD, it would be something far more special. This is after all, just a BETA.

I Rate HUD Beta Test :star::star::star:
