Controlling a Floating/Suspended Object (making top-down style)

Archive: 4 posts

I'm trying to make a level in top down style, but I'm having trouble making my object not be subjected by gravity.

Whenever I set the dampening to 100 or attach the object dark or light matter, the object refuses to move. Whenever I attach it to holograms it just falls down as usual.
I tried some crazy logic where moving disables the anti-gravity and activates another one, but even if I set the dampening of the second one just a little lower it slowly moves towards the ground.

Is there something I'm missing? It seems a lot harder than it should be.

I just set the world gravity (far right in the tools bag) to zero. Stuff will still fall slowly. But, if you want a moving object (or a stationary object that can be moved) use an advanced movement logic chip and set the strength to 100%. That should hold it in place. You may be able to achieve the same effect with a lower %, but I haven't tested.2011-01-21 18:49:00

Thanks.
That thing with the mover strength is really random and I never would have figured it out by myself.

For some reason dampening set to 100% makes it act like dark matter. (I've run into this myself)

It seems to be better midrange, like 50%/60%. Anything higher and the object is stubborn.
