Copied profile import crisis!

Archive: 10 posts

Well, I finally got LBP2 today to discover that I cannot import my LBP1 profile or any of the goodies I unlocked in LBP. Apparently because I copied my own profile way back when my old 60g PS3 died, I now cannot import it to LBP2!

WTH!?

Aside from the question of why Mm decided to prevent copied profiles from being imported (it worked in the beta), does anyone know if there's anything I can do to salvage anything of "old" ungreth? I mean, even if I start from scratch to play through the whole of lbp1 again to get 100% on a new profile, then I would still lose all my created objects, costumes and levels on my moon. I'm so angry right now!

Well far as i know there don't seem to be a way to fix this problem,
But i hope there is.... to bad LBP1 don't have sack bots you could put your costumes on,
you could just then just put them on a level and get them later on LBP2....
Well far as your other stuff levels etc you should be able to send them over tho it be a pain,

Maybe you could send your profile to MM and have them fix it?
i hear someone did something like that before... :/

Sooo does pushing import collected objects from LBP1 under back-up profile not work?
i'm guessing it don't but, not much you can do. :l *mew

I'm sure you tried it, but does backing up your profile on LBP1 and trying to import that work? Or does it always read it as copied?2011-01-21 16:23:00

Or save your stuff, just upload a locked level, with your favorite things (do this in lbp1) and then in lbp 2 copy the level to your moon and there you go! I doing this to avoid profile upgrade freeze2011-01-21 16:34:00

Well tbh, costumes aren't everything, level pojects are harder to re create, plus, there are alot more cool costumes in 2 anyway.2011-01-21 16:57:00

Yoho! your talking to the wrong person to say costume are not everything,
even if they don't mean much to Ungreth or not as i don't know about them,
But they mean more to me then any level anyone has made,
Unlike you i'm sure, My costumes are NOT easy to make, i span Hours sometimes 4 to 8 on just one costume,
I'm one of LBP's Top costume makers and to us, costumes are far more impotent then any level.

So you should watch what you say as it may not be true for everyone. *mew

PS: they won't have a problem with levels like everyone here has already said
as they can send them to their self by backing them up on the HDD.
But they most likely want their whole profile not just their levels, as this would mean
they still have to play LBP1 again to get everything, ETC.

Sorry to hear your troubles dude, sometimes real life sucks and when our much beloved interests which provide escape and relief go wrong then everything seems much worse.
I've been struggling with the Copied profile issue most of the day, I lost two fat PS3s to YLOD and as a result had my profile copied several times on Usb stickes, other accounts etc. and now LBP2 refuses to accept it (Cheers MM/SONY... uploading copied profiles, thats the big issue on LBP/Ps3 not the YLOD or spam levels! )

The two solutions seem to be:
Either
Create a second LBP account and copy your profile to it, from there publish unlocked copyable levels of LBP1 content you require: Whole levels or specific items. Then switch to your main profile and copy that level onto your moon on LBP2. If you don't want that content available to everyone immediately switch back to the LBP1 account and delete the unlocked level. may seem a pain at first but doesn't really take that long. In this way you can transfer LBP1 content: Materials in selected shapes, soundtracks, stickers decorations, level items, sound effects....you might even like to make some bespoke items for your LBP2 levels on LBP1 occasionally and transfer them this way, might even be fun to stay in touch with the old school LBP1 create roots. On the downside you can't transfer costumes but nothing that a little stickering can't overcome when designing sackbot characters.
OR

the apocalypse option!!!
Delete profile, replay LBP1 re-capturing everything all over again including DLC levels like Metal gear solid. Need help with the multiplayer challenges and then start LBP2 with a clean fresh profile.

Good luck in ov ercoming this , hope things get better soon.
