Logic trouble

Archive: 8 posts

After having the game for less than a day it may be to early to say this but... I personally found the LBPC Logic easier to work with and understand than all the microchip nonsense.

What happend to directional controls?!?! I attempted make a layer changing door that when activated by a grab switch would move back a layer then after an amount of time go back to it's original state using the layer mover chip. when I went to edit the "grab sensor" I was confronted with colour change and invert. I assumed that the option for directional control would be on the layer change itself but yet again no where to be seen. So after abit of a faff I gave up. Maybe this is just my inability to work logic but I would very much appreciate if someone could help me

Directional control is still there for some things. You may have to hunt for it thought.

For example, a player sensor hooked into a piston. If you tweak the player sensor you won't see a directional option - you'll need to tweak the piston.

Same for lights, the light is what needs tweaking to make it speed, one shot or on off, not the sensor that's hooked into it.

Took me awhile to get the hang of this in the beta too but give yourself some time, it'll become second nature after a bit.

Now - onto the question - why do you need directional control on a layer mover? It will move one forward, one back, to front, to middle or to back if you tweak it. If you want it in the front then want it to move back you'll need two movers. One that says move to the front and one that says move to middle or back.

I hope I'll adjust! I originally wanted one switch to move it back and forwards but I assume this isn't possible?2011-01-20 23:06:00

Back and Forward in layers I don't think is possible with one mover.

Back and forth left to right and right to left, ya that you can do.

Have the grab switch activate one Layer Mover and a timer connected to another Layer Mover so it goes back when the timer is done. 2011-01-20 23:15:00

Seems like there should be a way to do this using negative output from a battery.

Have a timer hooked to a toggle. Attach the toggle to two batteries, one set at 100% and the other at -100%......now I'm lost.

Darn. Can't do this in my head without the logic in front of me.

Movers are only good for one direction. Either move to front, move to middle, move to back, move forward one layer or move backward one layer. If you want to have an object move back and front you'll need two movers. That being said, you could attach the output from the D-pad for instance attach it to a Directional Splitter, and connect the negative output to one mover and the positive output to the other. UP is one way, DOWN is the other.2011-01-20 23:20:00
