How to Share Costumes

Archive: 12 posts

In order to share costumes in the first Little Big Planet, one had to tell the other what was in the costume and where to place any associated stickers. This made for levels dedicated to telling people how to obtain/create a certain costume. This was fine in Little Big Planet, however, in Little Big Planet 2, it's a LOT easier. It doesn't require any collection of stickers, that might overwrite others, and it can be integrated into actual levels.

1) The first thing you are going to want to do is place a Sackbot. You can do this in an empty level or one of your "real" levels.
2) Tweak the Sackbot's costume settings and pick a costume/outfit you would like to give out.
3) After selecting a costume, capture the Sackbot as an object.
4) Place a prize bubble in your level containing the newly captured Sackbot object.

That's it! Here is what the person receiving the Sackbot should do:

1) They should first place their new Sackbot in a level.
2) They should tweak the Sackbot's settings and select "Save Costume"

NOTE: In order to get the costume, the receiver MUST have purchased any DLC used in the creation of the costume.

I made a video demonstrating these processes:

Note you can also copy someone's costume (without their knowledge) if you're in Online Create with them, by creating a Sackbot set to copy the costume of their player number, then saving the costume from the Sackbot. In fact you win a pin for doing this.

So, should you have a costume you don't want someone to copy, be careful when in OC.

Oh wow, nice discovery. I can see how this will keep people from blowing up when they mess up constantly placing stickers.2011-01-20 19:23:00

Yeah, I love this feature.

Unfortunately, in the beta, there was no restriction on DLC, so that's how the Crown (amongst other things) got shared.

But now it's fixed, this is great. I can see there will many new levels with people's custom costumes being shared with the community, and that's just awesome.

Glad they kept this in!
This will be great for the kids who don't have the patience to place the stickers.

Very silly that there is a pin for copying someones costume though..

At least you need the DLC now.

People were able to get free crowns.

This should hopefully end most of the "Free Costumes" levels.

I could also imagine that if you're at your limit for costumes, you can "store" them in Sackbots. Just go to an empty level, create a bunch of Sackbots with the costumes you want to store, and clear the space in your popit. Whenever you want to use one of your "stored" costumes, just go to the Sackbot and resave it.2011-01-21 16:12:00

I have already become addicted to finding new costumes. A lot I have found were rather mediocre but some were very creative. I do wish they would promote costumes to a shareable object instead of having to use a sackbot, but it is still a major improvement and a fun diversion.2011-01-21 22:00:00

You needed the DLC regardless if youre in LBP or LBP2 as most of those levels in LBP are just stickers on cardboard and we have seen a few show up in LBP2, someone giving away all the ACE costumes which pretty much makes acing all the levels unnecessary of course that creator is being hammered for doing it as it takes the fun out of getting them yourself...

I don't think you can pull the individual pieces off any of the costumes gotten this method unless you've unlocked them in-game as well. My girlfriend doesn't have a lot of the stuff unlocked yet, so she grabbed a bunch, but she couldn't mix and match, which frankly is half the fun of costumes...2011-01-29 05:59:00
