Idea : LBP2 with... a Guitar Hero drum.

Archive: 1 post

Here we go, just got LBP2 yesterday.

I'll probably introduce me later... but to make it short, I'm a big Guitar Hero and LBP fan.

When I first heard about all the possibilities of LBP2, I wondered how I would be able to combine my two favorite games. So here we are, what about a level that would be playable with Guitar Hero controllers ? My first thought was about re-making a music game. But this idea didn't really excite me. I want something new, using the controller to do other stuff.

I just thought the things i would be able to create, what concept would be the most intersting. And the most original idea I got is a Patapon like game, playable both with a regular controller and a Guitar Hero drumset.

At the beggining of the level, the player choose is controller. If he chooses Dualshock, his moves would be shown with Dualshock buttons stickes. If he chooses the drumset, moves would be shown with colored stickers. Depending on the sequence the players uses, he would be able to walk, shoot, jump, or retreat. Some special moves will be used, such as "Blast the red pad/O button !!" to run fast or "Blast the green pad/X button !!" to shoot like a machine gun.

I already tried to create some quick time events, requiring to tap some pads in a specific order to make a bomb explode. It worked like a charm, and I'm quite happy with it. But the only problem I got is that a drum controller isn't any regular controller : no joysticks, no L/R buttons, and no possibility to shut down the controller without unplugging the IR receptor.

So, here we are ! I just wanted to share the idea I'm working on, to get your impressions. I really hope I'll get this little project to the end, and I'd love to get some of your ideas.

Thank you everyone !
