I wish there was a "run this level in LBP 1 Graphics" option.

Just a statement. I feel kind of sad having worked on a project for a couple years, and seeing some levels of it that just can't even be played in LBP 2. (I don't just mean "look bad", I mean you can't even see things properly) | 2011-01-20 14:27:00 Author: Jagrevi Posts: 1154 |
Yeah the conversion really didn't went good. Their PR said LBP1 levels would look better but it ended up being a PR line only! Most my levels looks worse, actually pretty much any level that was pushing the visuals somehow should also look worse because LBP2 simply doesn't treat lighting and post-processing effects the same as LBP1. There's an option in the game (in the level's detail page) where you can make so your level is only played in LBP1 and not LBP2 but at the same time it burry your level into oblivion. Nobody will plug LBP1 or find LBP1 to play our old stuff. Long story short, this is sad. | 2011-01-20 17:52:00 Author: RangerZero Posts: 3901 |
I agree yeah...the graphic difference is pretty ironic and when playing a lbp1 lvl your like wow >_<, it looks weird. But regardless there still the good old levels, Graphic difference or not thats basicly what matters. | 2011-01-20 21:49:00 Author: Bloo_boy Posts: 1019 |
Agreed 100%. Another pet peeve is I don't think you can alter the LBP1 levels in 2 so they work better and still have them work in LBP1. | 2011-01-20 21:51:00 Author: Morgana25 Posts: 5983 |

Or 'Special Edition' ; ) | 2011-01-20 22:01:00 Author: julesyjules Posts: 1156 |
Well thank goodness some notable names are coming out and saying this... Seems like I've been saying it all along, yet I had to feel the cold stares at the back of my cyber-head... Oh, I could hear those inaudible "shhhs!" I ended up deleting all my levels off LBP2 only to find-- that meant I deleted them off ONE as well... "Whoops!" It was gonna be ugly... my levels have a lot to do with 'look'... you slave over them... and then one day their ugly! Unplayable and ugly... I think I'll spare myself... Even watching the World Record Feed... I was like, how can you call this BC? Did you see Vanilla Breeze? Mine are all "LBP1 Only" now. Start collecting the dust. | 2011-01-20 22:04:00 Author: Gravel Posts: 1308 |
LOL... yeah, I did see them play Vanilla Breeze. Wow... that was bleak. Like washing a cat and taking a pic while it is still wet. I've never understood how they keep saying "All your levels will look better" and ignore these issues. I guess they could add an * *looks great if you used default lighting. Any massive spots, extreme use of led's, fog, color correction, and other pro lighting tricks will look bleah. | 2011-01-20 22:11:00 Author: jwwphotos Posts: 11383 |
I'm just gonna test a few things out when I get my hands on the game proper. The lighting looks a bit crap when directly imported, but Faiths 'Ice Age Extinction' gives me hope that with the appropriate tweaks, they CAN look miles better. There's also no way I'll be making another ten levels in the next two years, so I got me some space to play with. | 2011-01-20 22:21:00 Author: julesyjules Posts: 1156 |

HA HA...You forgot to mention that you can't have used any of the hazards either! I got a good laugh out of seeing the 50 foot high fiery vortex of death that my happy bubbling caldron in my Halloween level turned into as well as the blinding electrified ghosts. The LBP1 only option is all I wanted...I'm content to let my levels collect dust...I just couldn't quite bring myself to delete them! | 2011-01-20 22:30:00 Author: fullofwin Posts: 1214 |
With minor tweakings I've republished 4 levels already and I'm really happy with the lights. I barely had to change anything other than that. One of those four I didn't even touch. It all worked. Lucky I guess. | 2011-01-21 22:58:00 Author: BasketSnake Posts: 2391 |
It's kind of bothersome that the entire reason they limited the possibilities of LBP2 (like not having true 3D or top-down layering or whatever) was because they wanted to make sure the game was completely serviceable to the LBP1 back-catalog....but the LBP1 levels look ugly and borked...8( | 2011-01-22 07:10:00 Author: jjmusicman Posts: 234 |
Erm... You are aware that LBP1 is pretty horrendous now right? I mean, really, objectively go back and look at it. In 2 can have have a much higher poly count on screen, truer metaparticles, non-stupid fire, waves, SSAO, and a myriad of other things, non of which are "lookbreaking". They do "make things look better" This is most certainly true. All you have to do is go back in and polish your older levels to make them on par with the newer ones. Less complaining, more production please. | 2011-01-23 11:15:00 Author: Ouren Posts: 11 |
