whats up with boosting/poor lvls?

Archive: 13 posts

well since day one i've been surfing around the LBP community planet only to find the same old lvls on page 1-2 and 3 and so on. do they ever rotate maps around at a decent rate...or are the late comers doomed to be buried under hundreds of pages of other lvls? also, not to knock anyones lvl, but, whats up with lvls that either A: cant be finished B: have one big jump and points that is over in 30 seconds or C: very poor designed lvls... all have thousands and thousands of hearts and ratings. seems people would rather just go off one big jump, rather than try and play a full out lvl and try and get the best score...is this just another sad product of boosting?2008-11-09 07:07:00

Actually, I believe it is because LittleBigPlanet does not have a good content-filtering system. To be honest, it sucks. So far there is no official news regarding an upgraded system, but if enough people want it, Media Molecule will do it.2008-11-09 07:17:00

With the advent of trophies, it was inevitable that this would happen. Couple that with the somewhat lackluster way of level sorting by Mm... well this is what happens. Sucks, but until Mm changes it up, this is what is going to happen.2008-11-09 07:17:00

I got all the basic ones(height, speed, etc) in about 10 minutes fiddling around in Create mode. Honestly, it's so simple to do it on your own, I don't see why people wouldn't just do it by themselves just to say they did.

I agree, a lot of the levels on the first page are very bad. There's like 12 "Get all trophy" ones.2008-11-09 09:16:00

I did it myself as well. I played some of those levels after I had the trophies for them anyway. I saw that they were all so pointless and was annoyed at how popular they were.

dont take this the wrong way they should have a negative hearts as well so you can but the annoying ones at the bottom, so their two ways of judging a level, if u see that it has 100 hearts and 10 negatives then the level must be good, but if it has 100 hearts and 60 negatives then their something bad about it2008-11-09 14:57:00

Same here! I got the sackbird by tweaking this piston thing I stuck in mid air, lol, poped out of the spawn point and got flung almost all the way across the empty level xD

That's actually not as horrible idea, but I wonder how it would work out if put to use. Could be increadibly discouraging to someone who's just starting out to get "heart-broken" on his first attempt at a level, but for those big levels that have thousands of hearts and are complete rubbish it would most certainly balance things out... But as I said, practically, it will need to be a lot more elaborate than just negative hearting, and they really need to give you access to ALL THE TAGS ON ONE PAGE!!! at the end of a level! -> Most annoying thing I've seen about this game yet, worse than the servers being down for me.

All that being said though, this game rocks, period!

I like that idea, but people could exploit it in the same way they are exploiting positive hearts.

Ive signed up for the create trophy list, but I only want people to heart my level if they are genuinely satisfied with it, the name on the list just giving a 'booster' to help aid the players decision. If that makes sense.

to be honest i play all the get all tropy levels

i think somtimes it could be fun ya know XD

i like how each desigh is different
and one of the 1 million point ones was actually really cool how the guy made it.

you had to like jump off a diving board and there was secrets you could fall into before going into all the score bubbles

it needs something like the imdb scoring system. it's not perfect by any means, but it's SOMETHING and takes into account more than just raw votes.
