Having trouble activating and deactivating checkpoints on a verses level

I have a fairly simple problem with my latest level, i want a level where sack boys can fight it out using my own set of tools and combos etc. everything is great and the level has 2 maps to fight on. At the start i have a level select similar to other levels with multiple maps. My problem is that the map select area is not deactivating all the other maps checkpoints.

One thing i have noticed is that on verses levels, sack boy seems to want to spawn in all the checkpoints on the map by random. This is great, i love the randomness, but the problem is he is spawning on checkpoints hat are part of another map.

The way i attempted to deactivate other checkpoints was when you select a level, it activates a toggle switch to say yes to only the 4-6 check points i want to use. The switch goes off, but all the other checkpoints are still active. I tried the opposite, too where choosing a level would toggle no to all the checkpoints not part of that level, and had the same problem.

I also tried to do this with emitters, toggling a switch would emit the checkpoints i want, but the ones they emit are not active and i cant activate them remotely because they haven't been emitted yet.

I am a little stuck, any help?

Also, i am 90% sure you can activate and deactivate checkpoints with a switch, the tutorial said so, but for some reason it works in the tutorial, but not in the level.

It may be that this only works for cooperative levels. I seem to recall there being similar issues in the beta. Could you split the level by using sublevels?
